That's the thing...

That's not why Clark was considered so good. He pinned the opposing team inside the 20 nearly everytime he tried. That's what got him noticed and that's why he was in the running for nation's top punter. He can boot the ball when needed, too.

That's sad, then...

C'mon, memphis.

No, the picture isn't big enough.

Those are pretty humble remarks when you take a look at his numbers. Only eight of Steven's punts have been returned and for a total of just 41 yards. He is averaging 40.4 yards per punt and is first in the SEC and tied for second in the country for punts inside the 20 with 30.

Bro, we understand that your punter went to the award show. That's cool. but special teams isn't only about punting, its also about the coverage team..

La Tech punter won the award for best punter and you don't see anyone saying "OMGAZ BEST SPECIAL TEAMS EVAR"

LSU had the best punter/coverage combo in the nation last year and that is a fact.

No shite, we've been over this. Read the thread. It also involves kicking off (in which our kicker was top 3 in touchbacks last season), kick returns, punt returns, etc.

I haven't seen an Auburn fan do this, either. Read the thread.

LSU had the best punter

Our punter landed 30 punts inside the 20 yardline, which was tied for 2nd or 3rd in college football. It's listed right above your post with a link.

coverage combo

How many yards did they allow all season?

ETA: Auburn only allowed 41 yards on punt returns according to that link.

Punt return coverage

We had only allowed 6 yards all year until the national championship.. unfortunately we allowed another 60+ that game

Kickoff Return coverage

Field goals..

Punt returns..

we also had TM7 who had the 5th best punt return average in the nation where as auburn had no one ranked in the top 56 (therefore werent ranked)

quote:

5 Tyrann Mathieu LSU SO DB 13 27 421 15.59 2 2.1 32.4

We were better than auburn in all of those categories..

you beat us in 2 categories.

Kickoffs, and Kickoff returns

and we were also top 5 in the nation in two of those categories..

and as already stated, our punter (who was a RS Freshman) had better stats than your punter in almost every aspect besides downing the ball in the 20 (which is the most important statistic.. duh)

I was not saying our punter is better than yours (even though it is debatable) I said we had the best punter/coverage team combo.. as in our combo of the two together are better than yours.

Auburn gave up 10 punt returns in 79 attempts.
LSU gave up 20 punt returns in 59 attempts.

Auburn coverage > LSU coverage

Do you know the reason why Brad Wing could not be considered for the Ray Guy award?

Lsu will have the better ST's. Trying to go off of last years touchbacks, is kinda lame, considering the ball will be closer. Even Bama will be able to have touchbacks this year. That's a moot category. Which brings it to punting and fg's. I give the edge to Lsu.

He went 21/27 on fg's so that's pretty impressive. Cody Parkey went 13/18. Plus, Parkey was 2nd in the nation in touchbacks. He booms it through the endzone nearly everytime

Actually, Zach Hocker was 2nd Parkey was 3rd

But Parkey did lead the nation in Touchback percentage

That must've been what AMM was talking about, because I got the stat from him. Yea, Arky did score more points than Auburn did last season so that's understandable. With the ball being moved up next season, Parkey will be booming kicks into the 5th row of the stands every time.

Yea, I'd take Auburn's running backs over LSU's. Make a list of your top units.
