Greatly, greatly depends on the small private school. The south, and the rest of the country, are littered with liberal arts colleges that have little rigor and are far inferior to good public schools.
Perhaps. I'm mainly thinking of Furman, Davidson, W&L, Richmond, Wake, etc. Schools that are considered the equal of a state's flagship institutions (in lots of cases superior). Those kids had a much smoother transition than your UNC, UGA, UF, UVA, Clemson, etc kids.

Oh frick off you cock. As if it's something that's at all factual anyway.
I, like you, am speaking from personal experience. In my experiences and in my various lines of work, I can say that few employers would even notice someone listing TAMU as their undergrad versus Ole Miss. It simply doesn't stand out.

He's not wrong. Your average A&M degree doesn't mean much around here (or in DC where I used to live). Might as well be Idaho. You could probably impress some ENGR companies, but A&M isn't some elite institution. It's a large state school that's ranked outside the top 50. If you think the average A&M kid is smarter than the average LSU kid or UT kid you're insane.

In certain situation you may be right, but those two are a ton different when it comes to quality of education.

Alabama brings the least. Their fan base is spoiled, demands constant attention and attempts to smother the rest of the conference. Why else would an Alabama fan post a thread like this to diminish other SEC schools?
Damn Bama taken task by little bro Vandy (gonna have to be nicer to you at family get togethers ). Sadly, there's a lot truth in Morris' post - Bama has gotten spoiled over the years, even Saban said so when he talked about fans giving their tickets to someone who DID want to be there if staying the entire time was too much for them.

I can see that, although those are pretty good schools and I'd bet they can hang most places. I think there is a pretty big difference between the better publics and the old school publics. I think schools like Auburn and Alabama are making that transition somewhat, schools like UGA already have, and schools live UVA have been rigorous to some extent forever.

I too speak from personal experience. Sorry I don't agree with you.

This is what I've seen as well, but I'm in sales so they only care that you've received a degree. The main decision on whether or not to hire is based on your previous performance.

We're in the top 20 for public schools. And holy shite yes, the average A&M student is smarter than the average LSU student. Don't be insane.

Possibly. I would rather hire LSU grads the majority of the time though because they can deal with people and aren't awkward.

I'll back up the TAMU kids. If you're going to go work at Home Depot as a mid level corporate manager, I agree Ole Miss, TAMU, UGA are roughly equivalent.
If you're going into higher end business consulting, law, medicine, top engineering or construction firms, there is definitely a difference between MSU and UF. More simply, for those in positions where prestige matters a little or more, they're usually going to be aware that TAMU or Texas or UNC are much better public schools than LSU or Oklahoma.
And correspondingly, there is an additional big gap for for professionals at McKinsey or Wachtell between TAMU and Stanford. The higher profile the gig, the more important the resume, as a general rule.

This thread has turned into a soft weiner-measuring contest over academics. A&M should have never come up in response to the OP. Let's get back to the actual discussion.
