Not like Ole Miss has the largest geological engineering department in the SEC, top 10 accounting school, law school and a med school. Yeah. Ole Miss totally brings the least as far as academics.

Idiot.

Oh, and don't mention the fact that the University of Mississippi Medical Center cured a child of HIV this past year.

ETA: Ole Miss brings the Memphis market as well. Memphis isn't a Tennessee market.

25 Rhodes Scholars, which I believe is either tied with Vandy for first or second in the SEC. I could be wrong though.

Name the only SEC school to win a bowl game, an NCAA Tournament game and a postseason baseball game in the Big 3 sports for the 2013 calendar year ?

Good grief. Where does this "Big 3" sports bullshite come from? Look at national viewership and revenue numbers and try and tell me baseball is a "big" collegiate sport. Hilarious.

In the SEC, there is a big three. That's of course not true everywhere. SEC basketball is, for the most part, atrocious.

As far as viewership, I believe it is third.

All of the testing and research was done elsewhere. Everything that was challenging about the project did not take place in Mississippi.

All they did was apply to findings and techniques to a patient.

They have baseball, though

Do they? At least LSU and SCar have actual national championships in that.

And nobody really gives a frick about college baseball. It's as much on the radar as women's basketball. That isn't to say that I don't like it, but it's not as big a deal as some folks want it to be.

I'm always amazed when people give serious responses to the OP's stupid question.

A Final Four and a historically top of the line baseball program are pretty significant contributions.

No they're not.

You think they are because it's something you can hold over Ole Miss' head.

Schools like Georgia and Iowa have been to the Final Four. Having one great basketball team in one calendar year isn't exactly something that a lot of schools can't boast (and, yes, I fully realize that Ole Miss isn't one of those schools).

Where would you rank Ole Miss academically? I say 13th at best, but I could be wrong.

Considering Hendo is the second coming of William Faulkner, added to the fact that we have big booty bitches, I'd say TSUN brings plenty to the table

If you're taking admission requirements into account (Which Ole Miss or State have no control over), absolutely.

If you look at the actual academics process, it's on par with LSU and Arkansas IMO

Seems like it's more that there is poor education in Mississippi and it's only appeal to out of state students is good parties and good looking girls.

Low admissions standards =\= poor education

There are a lot of great opportunities for students at Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Just because the schools admit a lot of people who don't take advantage of them doesn't mean they aren't there.

I mean, Ole Miss has produced 25 Rhodes Scholars. That's more than Georgia. It's not like there aren't smart, successful students that are Ole Miss Rebels.

State has been to the CWS more recently than any of us and have a good chance of going next year as well...

Not to mention unoriginal, unimaginative, and the product of ignorance and prejudice.

So, really, pretty run-of-the-mill for the dumbass contingent that has taken over this message board.

And we've been to the NCAA Tournament in basketball more recently than Kentucky and the majority of SEC schools. Your point?

Thank you. So many people don't understand this.

By the way, further proof of this is the amount of students that flunk out of Ole Miss their first year because they had no business being there in the first place.
