This makes sense.....but I can't really agree with that analogy.
LSU/Ole Miss is like OU/Next best team other than Texas
MSU/Ole Miss is like aTm/Somewhere in between aTm and Texas

Pank, my good friend, I knew you would take this bait.
Lets just say if Mississippi State isnt Ole Miss' rival I hope Ole Miss doesnt even show up when they come to Starkville the last Saturday in November.
Yeah we have a countdown to the Egg Bowl, its all about PAYBACK. Last year yall got us good, but Coach Mullen came in and wanted to remind our guys every day about that loss and help them look towards that game.
I can just hope we are 5-6 going into the Egg Bowl so it will mean even more us, and in my dream scenerio UM will be 6-5 and will lose to us in the Egg Bowl giving my bulldogs Bowl eligibility while keeping Ole Miss at Home.

You don't know shite about the history of the SEC and LSU-OM. They were the most bitter rivals for many decades going back to the 40's , 50's, 60's, 70's when they were both good. In the 50's and 60's they were usually top 2,3,4 team in the SEC behind Bama and TN.

It is a way for them to become relevant in their own minds. I have had Ole Miss fans tell me that Alabama is their big rival as well. That has been one helluva hammer and a nail rivalry. We could very well get our 50th win over Ole Miss before they get their 10th. But the best thing about Ole Miss is they are playing 2009 with top 4 SEC talent and it is all down hill from here.
If Nutt and Mullen stay put in three years the Ole Miss program will be buried.

You know when other fans make fun of State fans? It's you they're mocking.
Ole miss claims LSU as a rival to make themselves seem relevant and important just like some of our fans do teh same with Bama. in the 90's when LSU was down and State and Jackie was beating them(ole Miss, edited for HBT) regularly, it was a different tune. That's why you remember it being different.

Did anybody ever hear of Go to hell Ole Miss/ We used to yell this at each game in the 70s.
