Yep, like with Stallings and Spurrier in the 90s.

Totally agree after the first two were gone nothing else worth pursuing without losing allot of good coaches on this staff.

You nailed it sir. LSU could have done a lot worse. Blown up the whole coaching staff for second tier guys. Then if you have to hire another coach in 2-3 years, you could set your program back 5-10 years.

More Spurrier than stallings. Spurrier changed the way teams played offense but Bama did have alot of success at the beginning of the SEC west.

The thing about paying a winning coach a shite ton of money is that it's a great investment.

Sure, UA paid a lot of money to get Saban and to keep him, but the ROI has been positive.

UA hasn't lost a cent by paying Saban a huge contract. Hell, they've made $$ off of it.

Name somebody outside of Herman and Fisher LSU would realistically want and could have? And don't say Gundy is a better option.

A guy who took a nothing program to a point where Bama robbed them from a chance at a national title vs a former coke head and guy with a losing SEC head coaching record.

Hard choice.

Media hype.

People bitch about media bias toward Bama but we don't get half the love early 2000s USC did, and our dynasty blows theirs out of the water.

Dude Texas has zero talent. Just because Orangebloods gave players an extra star once they committed to UT ( and if you live in Texas it's a well known fact). They have a stud rb and a stud lb that's it. Their good players have barely seen the field. If you have talent you don't lose to Kansas.

Just plug and replace.

You hear the cliche about a lot of teams that "they don't rebuild, they just reload", but it's actually been true with Saban.

It reminds me of playing NCAA on the Xbox in Dynasty mode. You just keep getting better and better and better u til you're besting teams 120-0 and winning every individual award and then you get bored and play Halo.

The game passed miles by. He could recruit, but he no longer understood what it takes to win....Saban proved this by hiring miffed....he was smart enough to realize his same approach wasn't going to produce the results he wanted.....he had to change......u think he wanted to hire lane kiffen???? He hates the guy ....but he knows his defense alone can't win championships anymore.....at some point he has to score points...my God, ole miss couldn't stay on the field with bama playing traditional football....yet they've beaten them 2/3 and scored points at will the last few years....hell, no one can compete with bamas talent straight up. They are the most talented team every fuvking year.

Yeah Spurrier and UF did win more than UA back then in the SECCG. I just meant that if LSU was in the West, it would have been them and Bama most every year like it was with Bama and UF back when Spurrier and Stallings were the coaches.

I'm not sure where they are right now - but I honestly think they have incredible potential to be a great team, though. I think Orgeron will be a good coach for them. He is passionate about LSU. I see him doing a lot more for LSU than some fans on here are assuming. I think he can bring them back to "prominence" in the West so to speak, though I wouldn't even say they have ever completely "fallen" from prominence in the SEC. This season should have been a lot worse for LSU than it ended up being, and they still made it a winning one. That says something about the character of the team. They have talent, and will only continue to get good recruits and should put together very competitive teams. I don't see them becoming irrelevant.

Actually in football good scheming, discipline and technique can overcome relative lack of talent. And those aspects in the negative can betray a wealth of talent.

It's what makes football so great. It's why a great coach can win anywhere. It's why hard nosed sumbitches are so drawn to football coaching.

It's like they said about Bear "He can beat yours with his, then beat his with yours"

So your basing coach O off of Ole Miss? That was ten years ago dude. Looks like O can adapt to today's game. Guess who couldn't..Miles. He was done 5 years ago man. Same shitty offense. Since O took over Steve freaking Ensminger did light years better than Miles. So, get a OC that can actually coach and let's go. If he fails in 3 years we will still be loaded with talent. Alleva will be gone, and the next hire will probably be a homerun.
