I have made mistakes. Everyone has.

But I have NEVER laid a hand on a woman. That is the mark of a certain kind of man, and despite that liberal BS Hollywood sells I don't think that ten years of "self improvement" undoes the defective nature that would lead to such an act.

And yes fricking children is worse but my point is they are both things you can't come back from. In my opinion of course.

Runner up to Saban lead Alabama.
Potential to be a perennial top-15 team.
Famous for squandering talent and for choking games away.

Both. Saban even hired Sark. He will probably be their OC next year.

The main reason he hasn't gotten another head coaching job. His resume as an assistant at major university's and his interm head coaching at USC would have gotten him a job at at least a mid major. He is very respected in the coaching ranks but his cajun upbringing has definitely set him back even more then his first job at ole miss. IMHO

It was dropped most likely because in the early 90s woman felt bad about keeping a man from a multimillion dollar job just because he slapped her around (glad we have moved past that), but that kind of history plus former felony-level drug use makes me feel like I am justified in questioning his character. Where there is smoke there is fire.

Exactly he isn't a right fit for anywhere but the south.

To be perfectly honest, I see Orgeron being a complete disaster. The SEC in general is a clusterfrick outside of Alabama. You have to look at who will likely be hiring soon or within 3 years:

Texas A&M
Auburn (less likely than the others, depends on next year)
Tennessee
Florida (similar to Auburn)
Maybe Georgia, but I think Smart will be given at least 5 years

LSU is facing an identity crisis that a lot of other schools have already dealt with. Alabama simply cannot be matched. The SEC is now a battle for the Sugar Bowl, not the playoffs. Sure, Alabama will fluke at some point, but under Saban, it's not going to get any easier.

I think everyone in the SEC is in for a long 5 years

No, he hasn't gotten a head coaching job because he has so many skeletons in the closet you wonder if his maiden name was Clinton.

What he did at USC alone was enough for at least a mid major head coaching job if he didn't have such a rap sheet.

I mean hell he wasn't even a position coach. When was the last time a top 15 program hired a coach who wasn't a coordinator or head coach at their previous job? I can't think of one recently.

Give me a break man. Everybody has a past. It's how you conduct yourself after screwing up. In this day of age with media coverage it would come out if it happened again. Obviously, that behavior should never be condoned. Plus you weren't there and who knows what really happened. Women are nuts she probably played a roll in it hence why the charges were dropped.

You are delusional man. It's not even worth trying to have an educated conversation with.

Not sure if serious. The early 90s was post- Ike and Tina, a generation that had suffered multiple DV awareness campaigns. It wasn't exactly Mad Men

I am not the only one who didn't hold a high option of the guy. How else can you explain how he has never been a coordinator ever? The only two times he wasn't a position coach was the part of his USC career after his head coach got fired, his LSU career after his head coach got fired, and Ole Piss.

He has coached defensive lines since 1988 and hasn't been a defensive coordinator once. How do you explain that without considering maybe other people don't like his history?

I think they are in a decline. Realistically they will win 8 or 9 next year because there is still a lot of talent on that roster. After that, they will struggle.

I have made it clear that I agree there is no concrete proof he is a shithead. I could be wrong about the woman or situation and maybe everyone did coke in the 80s. Fine.

What I can't rationalize is how if he is an angel in this whole thing how he never got a job as a defensive coordinator despite coaching long after all the alleged incidents.

When you pay a guy millions to be a head coach of a top 15 program you expect high standards.

Ok maybe I am wrong about that. I don't mind admitting when I am wrong. Thanks for the peer review.

Doesn't completely explain away the situation though in my eyes.
