I think AU to the East is a good solution, while I like the UT game the Auburn game is far more important.

Agreed. For me, it's the third most important rivalry we have. No slight to UF. We have a lot of traditional rivals. Some of the most memorable ('93, '94) games of my youth were against you guys. There are also quite a few games I's like to forget from that era. Hope we move East sooner than later.

I don't understand the aversion on this board to air travel ... but that's another thread.

It's fun once. Nobody wants to fly to college station every two years as opposed to just driving to Auburn or Alabama. And plus, nobody really has a big airport besides us.

He basically snapped at a sideline reporter. I wish I could remember more of the details but there was a hubub at the time about whether he did or didn't do it and people obviously thinking ESPN was just a buncha whiners. Nothing much came from it other than more fuel to the "ESPN hates us" meme.

Now I read that Smokey II actually attacked Baylor's Bear and Judge mauled him before they were separated. Smokey survived that fight and continued his service for years. In Smokey II's defense blue ticks are bred to go after bears.

I think Auburn fans just wish BR was farther away. For an excuse to never go.

Nice flame but I love going to Baton Rouge. Went to every Auburn LSU game from 2002-2010

Not a flame. Just speaking from personal experience. Grew up in the OA area. Plenty of folks look down on LSU there, or maybe just the folks I knew. And talked about hating BR.

Uh, Vandy is more West than UT, for starters.
You'd have to move Aub to the East and Missou to the West.

Keep the cross division rivalries.

New Cross Division rivalries:
Auburn-Bama
UT-UF
LSU-UGA

Auburn gets to play all our rivals. TSIO is maintained. LSU gets rid of their "disadvantage". Seems like everybody would be happy in this scenario.

For those who can't read:
This keeps the Iron Bowl intact.

Now you're forcing UT to choose between Florida & Vandy rivalry to lose. & I think the in-state 1 with Vandy would hold more water.

Move Auburn to the East.

Move Mizzou to the West.

Move Bama to the East.

Move Vandy to the west.

The need for a permanent cross division opponent is eliminated.

That puts 5 of the Top 6 in SEC history in the East while leaving LSU to run free in the West.

& now you've created the NEED for a perm cross-division of TN/Vandy to continue their in-state rivalry.

I still wish they'd go to 9 games. If not, find a way to maintain Ala-Tenn and Ga-Aub and let everyone else rotate. I don't care if Florida is 12-0 or 0-12, that game means nothing to me nor many LSU fans. And,I'm sure that feeling is echoed in Gainesville. I'd much rather see Missouri,Tennessee,Georgia and South Carolina on our schedule more frequently than being stuck with Florida.

&, as much as it's been mentioned, I have yet to see said schedule. Also, as it's been posted before, even MORE people would bitch about it's unfairness of those 2 games.

Geography is basically a wash at this point. Does "east/west" still make sense?

I think it would be interesting to re-work the SEC divisions, NFL style, where teams in the same states are split (i.e., Houston AFC/Dallas NFC; Miami & Jacksonville AFC/Tampa Bay NFC; San Diego & Oakland AFC/San Fran NFC).

Split Ole Miss and Miss State
Split Auburn and Alabama
Split Tennessee and Vandy

That makes as much sense as when the Atlanta Braves were in the NL WEST!

No,that's garbage. If Alabama and Tennessee and then Georgia and Auburn want to play each other every year, fine. Lets go to 9 games then for more opponent diversity or figure out a way for those two games to be fixed and the other 10 teams rotate. Or, if those games are so precious to the institutions, play them as OOC games in particular years.

Um.......HELL NO! WTF is being in the same conference but NOT count as a conference game?

I still don't understand , why do the other 10 teams have to have permanent cross div.

It seem like a schedule would not be that hard to keep DSOR & TSIO, and still let the other ten rotate 2 games.

Go for it & see what you come up with. & then let's see how much bitching is created by who's (not) playing whom.

To me the best schedule would be The SEC Roommate Switch.

This changes absolutely nothing in regard to the inequity in scheduling that LSU is upset about. Bama's schedule remains exactly the same in this scenario and LSU has simply swapped Florida for Georgia, which are on equal footing as far as I'm concerned. Personally I love the Florida game, I just hate that it typically results in LSU running a tougher schedule then some of our direct competitors in the SEC West.

The goal is not simply to eliminate Florida because LSU is scared of Florida or dislikes playing Florida. Most all LSU fans I know love the Florida game. The idea is for the scheduling to be more equitable so certain teams in a division don't have the advantage of consistently running easier conference schedules which give them an edge in winning the division as a result of permanent opponents.

The Florida game is one of my favorites every year and I wouldn't trade it simply to replace them with Georgia. If those were the only options I'd vote to keep Florida. If other teams in the West had to play Florida an equal amount of times over a certain period then that would be ideal. It would also be nice to be able to play Georgia and Tennessee a little more often too.

OP is simply perpetuating a blatant misrepresentation of LSU's grievance.
