We played every one but LSU last year.

Same here except it was Bama
Same here except it was UT.

Big6:
Alabama - all except UGA/UF
Auburn - all except 4-8 UF
Georgia - all except Bama
Florida - all except Bama/AU
LSU - all except 5-7 UT
Tennesee - all except LSU

seems legit.

SEC fans will travel. They just don't like it becoming a routine. They'll go anywhere. All you need to see is Bama fans going to PSU, LSU fans going to WVU/UW/etc, Georgia fans taking an entire section of Colorado/ASU/Okie Lite etc.

You realize all of that microcosm combined isn't as big as Texas so yeah traveling more than 8 hrs is a trip for us because it often means we've gone through several states. That's nothing in Texas. I actually think it's your mindset that's a bit different because Tejas is the anomaly in terms of size.

However, we do travel longer distances than that for OOC games. Vol fans traveled well to Autzen but we're a spread out fan base too and we travel well. But making that a regular trip to several schools that far is a LOT to ask anyone. Texans are just used to those huge distances.

I was once seated very near the field and he was just rolling around in the grass having a grand ol' time. We had a very long conversation about who's a good boy.

It's not like it's a easy drive to any of those places from Auburn either.

To Baton Rouge- 8 hours
To Fayetteville- 11 hours
To College Station- 12 hours

Oh, trust me. Driving across Texas is a big trip.
I wasn't suggesting otherwise. We're no different than anyone else in that regard.
But Texas A&M is located in College Station, not El Paso.
I don't understand the aversion on this board to air travel ... but that's another thread.
Again, it was just an observation of the very regional nature of many SEC fans.
Most conferences are stretched over large geographic areas.
No insult intended.

Being frugal while traveling is one thing.

Not wanting to drive 9 1/2, 10 1/2, 14+ hours every other year for a CFB game is another.

Especially when you have 100+ years of history with schools that are 2 1/2, 3, 4, 4 etc. hours away.

(Historically, UF has been the only lengthy trip prior to the 2nd expansion and addition of Mizz)

I think most UT fans would agree that going to College Station once or twice for a game would be great. I'd venture to say anything more than that would come off as a hassle.

I didn't read as an insult. I just think it's a bit different for us because there are geographic factors. Out West you almost have to fly everywhere. Here I can hop in my car and head to most places East of the Mississippi in a matter of hours. Hell I can drive from Knoxville to NYC in 10 1/2 hrs!

Oh, I understand.
No way in heck would I drive those distances; I fly.
If there's any fan-base that understands 100+ years of rivalry and tradition, it's Texas A&M.
Looking forward to hosting the Vols in Aggieland.

Until recently, the longest road trip I would have would be a little over 9 hours to Fayetteville. It was a tough drive, but it wasn't too bad because we could stop in Memphis and Little Rock. It would take about 11 hours to get to College Station. I could drive to Baton Rouge (5ish hour drive) and back in that time. Nashville is 4 hours. Starkville, Oxford, and Auburn are closer. Lexington is only 7 or so. All of these are much easier drives than going to College Station. I hate flying because it always fricks with my ears (I've only flown 3 times. Will make it 4 next month.)

UF is an old rivalry we would like to have back and I think my solution gets it back and keeps mostly everyone happy.

Agree. The UF-AU rivalry is a big deal. If the series had continued beyond 2002, it would have been the 92nd meeting this year. That would have tied it with UGA as our most played series.

This game has a great history and it is a tragedy that is no longer played annually and now will hardly be played at all. I think AU to the East is a good solution, while I like the UT game the Auburn game is far more important.

One reason for the lack of motivation to air travel in these parts is because you have to go through ATL to connect to the campus town airports in the region. Plus, AUB, UA, and OM have no scheduled commercial service at their airports. Therefore, it takes extra time, making air travel less practical,..unless your school is far in the east or west. Plus airfares on short hops are notoriously expensive, even more so than flying from big city to big city, across the country. About half of the commercial airports in the south only have a single airline, that contributes to high airfares and very low frequency. This is just a couple of reasons.

Smokey was accused of biting a Bammer. Uga accused of biting a Barner. What's not to love about these two? Seems to me they know who the bad guys are.

However, the best was prolly Smokey vs. the ESPN reporter.
