Well, Florida had two other major programs. Atlanta kids usually don't have deep Georgia roots, often coming from all over, and has auburn directly across the border. For those reasons, you could actually say LSU. Bama doesn't have many besides history.

Tradition is EVERYTHING with Alabama.
Your admins are smart. You guys claim Championships you have no right claiming.

It helps.

Dude, I'm barely old enough to remember a few years of SWC play, and I have read up on what I don't personally remember. The thing about Aggy you gotta realize is that they're going to FOREVER squander any chance they have at a championship with general ineptness. Their own fans could tell you this if they're honest with themselves

I was actually arguing against A&M. Might not have made that clear enough

Georgia and LSU, each are the only "major" program in states that produce more per capita NFL players than just about anyone else.

Louisiana is a much, much smaller state than Florida or Tejas. LSU cannot field a top team with only Louisiana recruits; there are simply not enough of them each year. and, contrary to what many say, some leave the state. the city of Houston is almost double the population of the entire state of Louisiana.

Well, Alabama has Nick Saban. So Alabama is the obvious choice

I mean..if you were a big ol bull or a big ol goat that wanted to get jacked-off for a living, then definitely Auburn is at the top of the list...Texas A&M a very close 2nd

What do they have to show for any of this?

Umm...

I wouldn't have answered A&M, though. Like another Ag already said, Georgia (for the same reason).

One stat I remember from the SWC days that has stuck with me all this time. Check this. During the 70's Arkansas lost 70% of its games to Texas. Concurrently aTm WON 70% of it's games against the Whorns

Say what?

TEXAS was 7-3 against aggy in the 1970s. You have that 70-percent stat flipped.

TEXAS was 8-2 against Arkansas in the 1970s. That's 80 percent.

Now if you're talking about Aggy beating TEXAS all but one game from 1984 to 1994, you'd have a point.

All aggy got from that was two major NCAA football probations, a ton of egg on their face and zero championships of note. They still hang onto that 10-year stretch like a Holy Grail. One-third of their all-time wins against TEXAS came during that stretch, which was bookended by arse-beatings (1890s to 1984, then 1995 to 2011).

Alabama does not have built in advantages, which makes what Saban has done more impressive.

In order

LSU (nobody else worth a damn in state)
Georgia (same as LSU... GT fans, don't kid yourselves)
Alabama (History)
A&M (only sec school in most fertile recruiting state)
Florida (Same as A&M in 2nd most fertile)

I upvoted.

"Aggies will suck because they are Aggies period" is my favorite ghost story.

This needs to be discussed more. Every day.

Yeah, Hog didn't look anything up, apparently. I'm surprised he didn't bring up the '75 game. I've still got heartburn over that; he should capitalize.
