Many, many pundits and sports writers would say so. Many wouldn't.

This is about UGA and Auburn though, and I happen to believe UGA gets the nod.
I mean it's not a landslide or anything and it absolutely could be argued the other way.

What exactly do you mean by "better question" 'cause...

They are pretty neck and neck. Since I was born, the record is 15-14-1 in favor of Georgia. Auburn has won 10+ games 9 times (including 2 undefeated seasons). Georgia has won 10+ games 12 times.

Also, since I was born, Auburn has won more national championships and SEC championships.

Given how close they are, I'll let championships be the tie breaker and I'd give Auburn the nod.

Georgia should be the better program overall. Auburn is second in state to the best football program of all time.

Well, if you put it that way, shame on UGA for not doing better than they have.

Therefore, AU.

Except this isn't just the past 3 years but the past 10, 25, and all time.

Comparisons aren't the same

Yet you all keep mentioning the last few years. Like I said, 2 NC Game appearances in the last 7 years would trump anything UGA did during that period.

Well if you're trying to get a kid to come play for your school what school would you want that to be?

UGA all day for me

Except for the part when I refer to the past 10 years, 25 years, and all time, all of which UGA owns the head-to-head in?

And while a NC game appearance is certainly something UGA doesn't have, I see no reason to credit Auburn for losing a glorified bowl game in 2013; a "NC game appearance" doesn't suggest a lot in the BCS era when the bowl assignments were totally subjective (still salty over the 2007 pairing with Hawaii instead of USCw). For example, are you telling me that I'm supposed to feel inferior to 2012 Notre Dame for their NC game appearance despite the severe arse kicking, just after UGA took the same Bama team to the wire in the SECCG? Or for that matter that 2004 Auburn should feel inferior to
2004 Oklahoma all because they "appeared" in that year's NC game?

Is this Phillip Marshall?

Looking at the last seven years doesn't define a program.

This is just like Marshall trying to compare Auburn to Bama and starting the year after Bryant left the game.

But, since you're using these past seven years, Auburn is 2-5 to UGA over that period.

So what did UGA do during those 5 years vs. what Auburn did during those 2?

SEC Championships - advantage UGA
National Cahmpionships - tie
Heisman winners - advantage AU
All time wins - advantage UGA
Head to Head - very slight advantage UGA
Bowls - advantage UGA
AU has a tougher schedule historically, so that explains some of the difference.

Very slight advantage to UGA overall if any exists.

Add this category:
Undefeated seasons - Advantage Auburn

Also AP/BCS national championships - Auburn

We all can claim about 5 pseudo championships so stop that nonsense

This changing dates to fit a story kills me with Auburn fans. Here's another example. We'll start with AP when it comes to Championships, but we'll start with another date when it comes to undefeated seasons.

Is it fair to also include an asterisk by 1957, or say 1993 when they were undefeated largely due to cheating?

If this question/thread was on any other forum besides one dedicated to SEC the answer would be resoundingly, UGA. Half of the nation probably can't tell you where Auburn is on the map.

Number of times put on probation
for a school providing improper benefits...AU takes that one by a huge margin.
