FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Embattled Arkansas coach Houston Nutt resigned Monday, giving up his job three days after directing the Razorbacks to a victory over top-ranked LSU. Defensive coordinator Reggie Herring will coach the team in its bowl.

Nutt told Chancellor John A. White that he wanted to close a chapter in his life.

"Houston's decision to resign was neither forced, or encouraged, or requested," White said.

Uhhh...doesn't sound like he was fired in this Wiki article (sorry no link)

Nutt's story is that he loved Arkansas so much that he left the program because he didn't want to cause further damage to program.

Sounds like the type of coach you buy for what he is worth and sell for what he thinks he is worth....

Always saw Two of the cars his family owned around Fayetteville. Any one who's plates read "nutt 1 " and " nutt 2" is a tickle dick. Self Absorbed peson an average football coach.

This is why he was not told before the Tennessee game of that year to look for work elsewhere.

Coaches who quit are allowed to coach at a school in the same division while being paid their full buyout amount after resigning all the time.

Nutt's best offer prior to Ole Miss going full blown retard for him was Baylor followed by a couple C-USA schools...

John White was forced to resign after that act too. Nutt wasn't paid 3 million dollars to resign. You don't get paid when you voluntarily resign. His contract was terminated.

Could be a decent coach if he wasn't:

Stubborn to a fault.
Will not delegate offense and be a CEO.
Cannot admit fault or take blame.

Nutt asked to be able to resign instead of being publicly fired, White granted that wish.

White was forced to resign soon after.

Broyles was forced to retire the year prior.

Nutts is a decent coach. I hope Mississippi keeps him 5 more years. He's a good guy- they need a man like Houston Nutts representing their University.

You hold on to that man RebelBears- he's a goodun

Doesn't mean if you don't that it isn't....

Why do you have to be so insecure in either yourself or the subject of the thread to turn it into an attack on a google search? You mad?

At least other piggies responding to the quote gave their opinions and alleged facts on the content...

He turned down LSU before Miles.

He turned down Auburn before Chizik.

He declined to interview at Bama before Saban.

Just ask him...
