I think so. Sure, we do have a delicate psyche , but I think any fanbase would still be talking about it. But like I said, it's also storied because it was just one occurrence in a series of events that contributed to a great rivalry. As an isolated event, it may not have mattered as long as it has.

My question would be, would LSU fans even know about it, if the Coaches hadnt put it up in the locker rooms for the next meeting there

I think most fan bases would be upset that a "rival" lit cigars up and took pics on their field after a game.

Seems pretty reasonable

Again though, idc. I was like 10 when it happened

It's the same thing as when your classless douchebag coach ran around with his fingers in the air and your idiot fanbase lapped it up....of course LSU fans are still pissed...

Tubs was just pandering to his fanbase with that shite. They beat us 6 in a row, they enjoyed the moment and who could blame them?

I remember Tubs comments right before the Iron Bowl in '08 - his AU Tigers were hurting pretty damn bad and had already lost to LSU/Vandy/Arky/WVirg/OleMiss/UGA and he said he was walking down the sidewalk, saw a playing card laying on the ground, he bent over to pick it up and the card was a 7 of spades. Tubs thought that was a good omen for beating Bama (undefeated at the time) for the 7th straight time.

Bama beat AU 36-0 and unbeknownst to Tommy - that was the last game he ever coached at AU. AU gave him the ax and +$5million the next week.

I'm honestly not sure. Probably not if it was just Les, but if LSU fans decided to it wouldn't sit right.

I don't see that as a valid analogy really though.

Why can't we just stick to smoking cigars on the field after the game?

Done among each other in celebration I have no problem with (other than being upset my team lost). If there were specific taunts toward fans/opponents, I would think it lacking in good sportsmanship, but it wouldn't bother me very long.

it's valid enough. We as fans would be mad, it'd probably last until the next time we won. What gets me is that we haven't won down there since then. To me it seems like something that should be thrown in our face as opposed to being a point of anger from lsu fans.

To make it more valid...lets say the lsu team after fans had cleared out of that area, came out and rolled toomers, then we as fans got told about it at a later point. To that I can say after 14 someodd years i would not care. After 2 years (or one win) i wouldn't care.

LSU should do it in Bryant denny this year after we win.

Then you'd really see some backlash

Saban would be livid and Bama fans would probably burn some trees and tea bag some males

First off, it's illegal

Second we have had countless people roll them, light them on fire, and finally kill them. Only one, do people still hold a grudge for. Point being, most get over it

What is it about the cigar game that upset LSU fans so much?

Underdog AU wins at night in Death Valley in Coach Tubberville's first season at AU and on his birthday. A hand full of players and coaches celebrate with a victory cigar after almost all the fans had left the stadium.

Why does that make LSU fans so mad that they still talk about it almost 15 years later? Is it some sort of sign of disrespect? If so, why is it considered disrespectful?

Why do you assume that all of the millions of LSU alumni and fans around the globe are all "still talking" about the cigar game because you see 10 or 20 people on a random message board mentioning it?
Jesus you would fail miserably in the world of marketing research.

Not that it matters, but the game was 14 years ago, and it was not at night. It was a day game.

Most LSU fans could give a shite about Tubberville celebrating. But to the minority that did care, I would guess it's a pride thing.

I'm sure """""""""""""NOT ONE"""""""""""""" Aubie would care if Miles and a few players smoked cigars on the floor of Jordan-Hare after a victory ???

I thought most people let it go after the whole stadium lit up after the 01 game?

Is it a tradition that LSU fans smoke cigars after every win? I don't really see the comparison.

Did the players put them out on the logo? Did they try to burn something on the field with them?

I probably would have been a little chapped about it for about a week or so after it happened, but I would have moved on long ago.

I don't see the point in stretching for a separate analogy when the facts of the actual incident can be used. There is nothing peculiarly LSU or Auburn about smoking a victory cigar.

I see comments and threads from LSU fans about it pretty regularly.
