Don't you mean "when", not "if"?

Two quarterbacks never work.

Three, however, is going to be gold.

Isn't it a quarterback, and 3rd and short quarterback, and a quarterback turned wide receiver?

I honestly believed TAMU would be further along by year 5. I don't think the program is bottom tier or anything, but I did think that y'all would have won the conference by now given the talent rich state and resources.

I mean that have the potential for sure but seems like a stretch to believe they would have won the conference in the first 5 years. If you would have said that after the first year then I could get that.

We haven't won the conference in 17 years. I don't know many aggys that expected to win the conference by year 5.

Floor?
L's
UCLA
Arky
Ole Miss
Bama
LSU
Auburn

Ceiling
Win them all. Not like they don't have talent. They just need to be able to run the ball and stop the run. Big question marks though.

Whoa, wait. Did you think this when we FIRST came in or after the first season with Johnny? Because A&M fans almost unanimously assumed coming in that we'd have losing seasons for a couple of years and then in 5 years winning 8 or 9 would be a giant triumph.

I know, I was actually responding to cas4t. I agree with you. I should have found his original comment and responded to it, but I was just too lazy.

I'm actually starting to think TAMU has a good season this year. They at least tried to run the ball last year and that should continue this year. That DL should be nasty and give them a better rush defense to go along with the stout pass defense. Trevor Knight wouldn't be the first QB to get beaten out by a heisman hopeful, only to resurrect his career somewhere else. The WRs are all experienced and talented and deep.

I have em at 9-3 and 3rd ranked in the West.

I wasn't including the bowl game

But LSUs floor and ceiling are and should be considered higher than A&M's, I'm just pointing out that qb play will determine the fate of both teams

I disagree. I think stopping the run will be the most important thing for both teams when looking at floor/ceiling.
We may not win a title with shitty QB play, but we can still win 10+ due to our "style" (or whatever you want to call our offense), as long as we can stop the run on D.

I honestly thought as soon as expansion came to be that TAMU would win an sec title, or at least the division, within 5 years.

Keep in mind auburn was about to lose Chiz and LSU had just unloaded that 2011 class to the NFL

I thought they would win within 5 years of the facilities upgrade. They've finished the stadium, but still don't have Track & Field facilities. We've lost several recruits to Bama, LSU, and FSU in part because A&M can't host T&F events and several "elite" athletes at least have aspired to be dual-sport players in college.

Ceiling is around 9-3, floor probably 7-5. I think 8-4 is realistic with a 4-4 SEC record.

Moving forward the problem for A&M is that Sumlin is not recruiting great in-state. He's getting his pockets picked by LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss. Not to mention Texas had a great class even though they've been shitastic. 5 years in on Sumlin and this doesn't bode well.

Nice attempt at analysis, but this simply isn't true. A&M fans don't want to hear this, but the new coaches just aren't as high on many TX players and the states recruiting base is getting "watered" down as the primary recruiting ground for most Big 12 teams. The players, especially on defense, just aren't typically ready to compete right away in the SEC outside of DBs (most of those kids have actually been from LA).

Chavis really wanted some guys out of LA and TN. He got a few of his guys in Tyrell Dodson, Cliff Chattman, and Okeke. Mazzone, Banks and Moorehead are also going out and getting kids nationally like Christian Kirk, Aaron Hansford, and Cade Fortin.

They are trying to build a program that focuses on TX, but recruits nationally. Even the T-Sips are going after LA and FL. OU dips into CA. TCU and UTSA are trying to get into LA too.

6-6 would be fine. Herman gets to sodimize the SEC in 2017 that means.

Aggies fate depends on the Longwhorns season. If Charlie doesn't win 8+ Herman will be at TX next year and there's nothing Aggie can do about it.

I think they are a scary sleeper. Chavis has more experienced talent. Offense will be good with a veteran qb perfect for their scheme. Good Secondary and dline. Not sure about LBers but chavis made improvements and always does well in his second year.

When's the last time lsu win 7 games? The reason "another 7" is a stupid thing to say. It's been a decade and a half
