I vaguely remember this. Is the backwards Nike swoosh drawn on?

Not to worry. You'll definitely be invited... once I move back to Texas. Currently scheduled for 2056.

Who the hell wants to shout "Pig, Sooie" or wear those godawful hats? I think all of your traditions are very, very safe.
I wonder how many on this board ever worn one of those.

And?
How many people have you "tiger baited"?
Embarrassing.

There are originators and then there are followers, aggy followed Iowa and Minnesota in this instance.
I don't know the full story and don't pretend to, but it's a common-enough phrase that I can see a school picking up on it with no knowledge of another school already ("already" in this case being 20 years earlier) using it. It wasn't trademarked until 1989 and I have no recollection of anybody else using it at that time. Having said that, it has always surprised me that A&M was able to get the trademark.

You know way too much about A&M. Again, why Baylor? You're in Waco, ain't ya? Admit it.

Most of us would prefer Deaf Valley anyway.
Well, with the Louisiana accent, it already sounds like you're saying Deaf Valley.

Really? Randolph Duke talking points?

I've read alot on this matter for ammunition purposes. A lot of schools used the 12th man thing, Iowa and Minnesota both before a&m. The 12th man was at a lot of different places it was a common term. Then, the Seahawks picked it up and pretty much made it main stream and marketed the term. Aggy wanted to start marketing the term and didnt want any one else to because for some reason they felt entitled and pushed and pushed for trademark. Now they push papers at anyone who uses it.

A&M trademark is from as early as 1984 and as late as 1990, which predates anyone giving a shite about the Seahawks.

That's well-established. In 1900 and 1917!

It may predate that, I dunno. Pretty sure the sign wasn't up when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I went to school, but "we're the 12th man on the fightin' Aggie team" (from, weirdly, the song "The Twelth Man") predates even me.
The Seahawks seem to be happy with the current agreement, so other than 120-yr old Minnesota grads and 103-yr old Iowa grads I'm not sure who should have a beef with this.

I prefer to think of this as Triumph's "For me to poop on" defense. Why a Death Valley fan would have an issue with this baffles me, but I'm a bit slow.

This is false. Texas put the Longhorn silhouette on the side of the helmet in 1961 in the season opener at Cal-Berkeley.

Songs--
Hey fightin' Tigers (Hey Look Me Over)
Tiger Rag (an old jazz standard)
Colors--
Purple and gold (taken from mardi gras colors, apparently they bought purple and gold ribbons to decorate the jerseys, and the store had plenty left over from mardi gras)

I just always thought the term "the twelfth man" was another cliche. I was surprised when I found out that the Aggies tried to claim it as their own.

We called our yearbook the longhorn before you frickers changed your nickname from "the varsity' to the longhorns. We did Gig'em long before your hook'em bullshite. I could keep going, but frick you.

ALS, rammer jammer is a bastardized version of hotty toddy brought to UA from a band director who defected from OM.

Meh. You called named your yearbook that, we named our mascot that and the whole world knows who the Texas Longhorns are.
You came up with a hand sign reminiscent of the Romans, we came up with one nationally recognized, if not internationally (for varying reasons).
See a pattern there?

F*ck the old men naysayers like Matt Moscona who blast the students for being too vulgar. STTDB is awesome.

Tiger Walk started in the 60's at Auburn. I don't think Tubby was roaming the sidelines back in those days.
