Schools like Iowa and Washington State have taken the Gator Chomp.
I think there is a point of contention of who started the "It's great to be..." chants.

Shug Jordan always referred to it as the "Brillo Pad".
It was horrible...but it really helped UT when they were using track stars as receivers. If you were fast on grass...you were faster on Astroturf.

IIRC, what UT first put on the field was something called "TartanTurf" that was more like carpet that grass.

Didn't borrow anything?
What about that live mascot ya'll bring to home games. Ya have him in a cage, you put the cheerleaders on top of the cage and then you drive him around campus.
Who came up with this "truly unique" idea? Never seen anything like this at all.
Congrats on being the first university to feature a live mascot as part of pre-game festivities.

"Hey Fightin' Tiger" was "Hey, Look Me Over" from musical "Wildcat"

Yep...I forgot that the "Tartan turf" was made by 3M, and was in direct competition with Monsanto's Astroturf. The Dallas Cowboys played on Tartan Turf in the 70's and early 80's.

Kentucky stole the hearts of millions as a rag tag bunch who pulled together and turned this thing around.

I wonder which school first used the battle cry/greeting? For instance, Hotty Toddy, Roll Tide, War Eagle etc.
Bama and Auburn have a story behind theirs. The Ole Miss one is so old nobody really knows how it started.
MSU being the newest in this tradition with their HailState.

Basically everybody has borrowed Tiger Walk from Auburn
Not sure why this has so many downvotes. It's accurate. Vol history even references it as how our own Vol Walk got started. Our bus was stuck in Auburn's game day traffic and Johnny Major's got to see the Tiger Walk. He liked it so much he came back home and implemented one that would grow and and change over time.
Per wiki:
quote:
The Vol Walk Head Coach Johnny Majors came up with the idea for the Vol Walk after a 1988 game at Auburn when he saw the historic Tiger Walk take place. Prior to each home game, the Vols will file out of the Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex, down past the Tennessee Volunteers Wall of Fame, and make their way down Peyton Manning Pass and onto Phillip Fulmer Way. Thousands of fans line the street to shake the players' hands as they walk into Neyland Stadium. Through rain, snow, sleet, or sunshine, the Vol faithful are always out in full force to root on the Vols as they prepare for battle. The fans are always pumped up with Rocky Top played by The Pride of the Southland Band.

I always remembered them saying..."Goooooo State...GO STATE!"
That was about it.
But hey, we all need a cursing cheer right.

Alabama's current uniform design debuted in 1956. I thought it was "borrowed" from Oklahoma. Who in turn took it from Arkansas.
An assistant from Arkansas took the OU job and the uniform design with him.

What has your team "borrowed" from others?
Georgia obviously borrowed their oval G logo from the Green Bay Packers.
UG's campus also has a lot of buildings that were built to mimic those on Yale's campus. Not to mention the nickname too.
