Schools like Iowa and Washington State have taken the Gator Chomp.
I have seen that, but certainly don't understand it. I think the Hawkeyes use it for the defense.

Makes no sense to me.

Oh, and I have worn a Hog hat, and currently mine is on top of a football (ND vs USC game) over my big screen TV.

LSU "borrowing" Death Valley from Clemson.

Biggest myth ever. Clemson didn’t begin promoting the name until the 1950’s. This time frame is significantly after confirmed reports of Tiger Stadium being known as "Death Valley; therefore, there would have been no need to distinguish Tiger Stadium form Clemson’s stadium.

Yeah and now your university is bankrupt. Can't blame Clemson for living within their means and not blowing their money on stadium seating.

But LSU has saved so much by buying only one football uni over the years.

Home/away don't matter same uni.

An idea borrowed from youth leagues across America.

Everyone has borrowed Old Miss' football stadium to use as a practice facility.

But I'll give credit to Old Miss: Oxfart hasn't quite left the 1940s unlike the rest of the SEC towns, not named Starkville! And when it comes to academics, no one comes close to rivaling their piss-poor rankings!

Clemson borrowed our coach, mascot, colors, and campus identity.

-Clemson hired John Heisman second hand from Auburn after we were done with him
-Heisman liked Auburn so much he thought Clemson should emulate our program and brought tenge Tiger mascot to Clemsob
-He also wanted to bring our colors and brought old second hand Auburn practice uniforms for Clemson to use. The blue in the old Auburn uniforms faded or dirtied and looked more purple than blue and they stuck with it giving Clemson their purple and orange.

AU - borrowed Princeton's color and nickname

Wrong. Auburn got its colors from UVA. George Petrie started the football program at AU after receiving his PhD from UVA. The Tiger nickname came from an Oliver Goldsmith poem (which is also the origin of Auburn being called "the Plains").

No. Georgia's using the yankee tune Glory Glory is clearly Stockholm syndrome from Sherman's march.

UGA - borrowed Yale's nickname and Handsome Dan mascot.

Negatory. We took a lot of cues from Yale in the early days of the university but by the time we had a football program, that didn't matter as much anymore. The bulldog mascot was chosen because it just seemed like a good mascot and was infinitely better than the goat we'd been using. Having an actual live dog didn't start until the 60s, well beyond any affiliation or care for what Yale had been doing. The dog was really more a coincidence that turned into a recurring tradition as opposed to some active search for a live mascot
