I feel like LSU (Baton Rouge) has almost always been around 30,000, give or take 1000. Someone told me that LSU had 35k in the 90s. It probably worked given our atrocious graduation rates back in the day. I think our graduation rates were around 35% in the early 90s, and we are now up to about 71%. LSU is about to hire more OOS recruiters and get enrollment to around 35k, but I am nervous our parking situation is entirely too shitty for that.

I do know LSU's average ACT score for incoming classes the past couple of years has been around a 27. Sure, we are getting brighter students, no question. However, ACT prep classes are basically electives for some schools now, so the aptitude level is probably inflated

Fun fact: LSU's three largest freshmen classes were 2003, 2007, and 2011. People are delusional if they don't think good football influences a lot of kids' decisions (to a certain degree).

Pretty sure 1,000 more kids eenrolled in A&M than we expected last year. I don't have the faintest idea why.

MSU Starkville is the largest individual campus in MS by a couple thousand. OM has made up ground the past few years though. MSU needs to do a better job with out of state student recruiting

Our on campus number last year was 19,426. If we havent passed you on campus yet we are a couple hundred behind.

The AVERAGE ACT score is 24????? So, even assuming that's a mean, something close to 50% of the Ole Miss student body couldn't get a TWENTY FOUR. Y'all must have a ton of football players.

And thats risen a whole point in four years. We have the lowest academic requirements in the league, thus we have the most dummies

I feel like their OOS student body is a mixed batch. I know some LA kids at Ole miss that managed to not get into LSU, while I know other LA kids who got into both, but wanted to go and mix things up

eta: the same applies for LSU and Texas kids.

Here are some of Auburn's enrollment figures for 2014.

quote:

Auburn University has reached its highest enrollment and its largest freshman class ever this fall, based on numbers reported this week by the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

An enrollment of 25,912 is 1,048 more students than in fall 2013. The new freshman class accounts for 4,592 students, 866 more than last fall.

Wayne Alderman, dean of Enrollment Services, attributed the size of the freshman class to a record number of freshman applications and an increase in the share of admitted students who decided to enroll at Auburn.

With the large freshman class and a simultaneous increase in graduate enrollment, Auburn’s total enrollment reached an all-time high.

“Auburn continues to be fortunate in attracting capable students from Alabama, from across the country, and from around the world,” said Drew Clark, director of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

The new freshman class boasts an average ACT score of 27.0 and an average high school GPA of 3.77. Sixty-two percent of the new class are from Alabama, while 38 percent are from out-of-state.

Years ago, Auburn's board of trustees mandated an enrollment cap of 25,000. That include post-graduates.

It's roughly 20,000 undergrads + 5,000 grad students.

Some years they go above 25K.

ETA: seeing the post above shows almost 26,000

Tied with MS State of course. State law grants automatic admission to any in state applicant with a 3.0 GPA and an 18 on the ACT. Also to any out of state applicant with a 3.0 with a 21. Ole Miss doesn't want to grow too quickly, so if you're not automatically admitted, you aren't getting in unless you're someone's kid.

Something you have to understand is we have to have to same requirements as MS Valley ST, Alcorn, etc because if not it's apparently racist. Because of that anyone that wants to go to OM has no reason to ever take the ACT more than once. No one is taking act prep course or taking it multiple times becuS they are already in the school they want to attend

The majority(55%ish) of their student body has been non-white for almost a decade(asians and indians being a large part of that)... they dread not having white kids.

LSU's biggest issues with the state are two things:

For one, LSU has wanted to raise its tuition substantially for awhile now. You look at the parking lot and see very nice cars left and right, indicating our dirt cheap tuition can be raised. However, the state has bad regulations and ties LSU's hands.

Also, Louisiana has more D1 schools than the entire state of Florida, which has four times our population. the state underfunds LSU horribly compared to most flagship universities. It's incredible LSU has still managed to grow like it has
