Our d gave up fewer points than you give us credit for, our offense just couldn't keep up. That is not their fault

I'm giving your defense credit for the same amount of points they gave up as the NCAA does.....which is at a rate of just over 16 points per game. That's a great season for a defense....

But we gave up just over 13 points per game....which even includes our drubbing by TCU(though a few of their TD's were scored by their defense).

also...you act as if LSU is the only team to have an offense that struggled. The LSU and Arkansas loses were completely the fault of us having an anemic offense. Hell...our offense came close to giving up more points than our defense against Arkansas.

I laugh because that statement is just asinine - in every regard.

LSU and Auburn have comparable talent. MSU and Kentucky have comparable talent. Neither of the latter two have talent on par with the former two.

It should be a good game, I will be there. The game will help decide both teams in the SEC. If LSU loses they have Auburn at home next week and could rebound. But if they have 2 SEC losses in a row, that will hurt.

If MSU loses we have Northwestern state, lol, to get some more snaps for the new players.

State did lose a few key players. The Oline is new and untested, and wont get tested until LSU. Defense should be fun to watch with Diaz back, but we did lose a few key players. I am not sure how LSU's depth is, but we shall see if this can be a good debate/talk or if it will turn into the typical rant discussion.

Probably so. Depends on how well CJ does at his natural LB position and if two, more talented, DBs can replace two senior DBs that we lost.

Prewitt was a monster but lacked coverage skills. Golson had some problems with technice but his outstanding athleticism made him a beast. They're being replaced by two guys who are, supposedly, much more talented than them but, obviously, much younger and less experienced.

If, somehow, they're able to step right into their positions....then we'll very likely challenge for the best defense once again.

With the season you had last year...MSU won't surprise anyone. Last year was the surprise. This year is when you prove yourselves because no one will sleep on you.

People are predicting a 6-6 type season. I am calling 8 wins.

If the D is serviceable 9 wins.

Doesn't matter who is predicting what....You spent a decent amount of time at #1 last season. MSU will surprise no one unless it's regarding you bad you do.

Target on your back, now.

Your candor is appreciated, CoonassBulldog. What's likely to happen is that State puts up their usual tough fight but continues the trend started in 1999 of losing to the Tigers in Starkville. Dak is a warrior and will make some plays but not enough to offset the steady ground attack of LSU. The Tigers will own the 4th quarter this year, week in and week out. The quarter backs will be somewhat improved but the biggest improvement will be by all those sophomore receivers who fought the learning curve a year ago. They're strong enough to win some of those downfield battles they lost as freshmen. As for the trenches, that's where the Tigers will have their biggest advantage, with quality depth established throughout the 2-deep; something that was lacking a year ago, even though the team was amongst the SEC leaders in rushing and lead the league in total defense. They will be better. Certainly good enough to defeat the Bulldogs.
