Guy is terrible. This was supposed to be a 30 for 30 about our football team overcoming everything that was going on to win the NC, but he turned it into a desegregation documentary. I'm not mad about or think it's not warranted, but he talks about the football team for about 5 min.

We were trailblazers for the civil rights movement.

Rosa parks was trying to get to Starkville.

I'm gonna up vote this. It deserves it.

I actually felt bad for the old dudes who obviously were concerned he would turn it into something like that. I doubt any of them would have agreed to go along with it if he had been forthcoming with them.

The only history that I've ever found of it in my family was in Georgia.

Mine was huge. Great 3x grandfather was one of the largest plantation owners in Louisiana. He owned the Destrehan Plantation at one point (now a tourist attraction in NOLA). His nephew had 2 plantations on the ground that LSU was built on. Owned half of the businesses in the French Quarter at the time. He also was part of a judicial council that handed down punishment on members of a slave revolt..11 of the slaves had their heads cut off and put on pikes.

Not bragging, as I find those actions abhorrent. But I'm a sucker for history and have the entire family genealogy in a book with documents dating all the way back to the 1600s. Every person in my family all the way back to it's origins as masons in Scotland in the 1600s is in that book, with every bit of info on each person that could be found.

No doubt. they thought they were coming in to talk about football, then no and the ones that refused he goes on to call the racist and bring up their past they clearly feel bad about.

Just turned it on, and yeah, its a lot more about "the narrator" than any other 30 for 30 I've ever seen. The guy is a douche and an opportunist.

Been saying this about Wright Thompson for a while, and I started a thread on it back when the were replaying Roll Tide/War Eagle before the Iron Bowl. He's a d-bag of the highest order.

I don't have a problem with someone making a documentary about what happened at Ole Miss during integration -- hell, most of us southern schools have an embarrassing mark from that era -- as much as I dislike the fact he tried to frame it around himself, his family and a fricking football team.

Wright Thompson's shtick of being ESPN's resident southerner is such a phony facade, and it's getting more laughable with each project he does. Dude doesn't know shite about SEC culture, went to fricking Mizzou, and spent many years in Kansas City. He's the same guy who tried to paint the entire Iron Bowl rivalry as something that started in 2010 that revolves around Paul Finebaum, Harvey Updyke and Cam Newton.

Many more states were racist 50 years ago. Ever heard of watts riots, Harlem riots, Chicago riots? What about churches being bombed and people being sprayed down with water hoses in Birmingham. Indiana was the KKK Capitol. North Florida was extremely racist.

Mississippi is just the poster child. This crap happens everywhere, all across the world. Now more than ever it is a two way street. Yes there is a high number of racist black people. But yet the media only highlights incidents in the south an only when it's white on black.

People can not help how their parents and grandparents acted or what they did.

By the way San Jose State has reprimanded 4 white students forracially insulting (or something like that)a black female student, I guess they are all a bunch of racist biggets.

This is the downside to the SEC. For as great as the move has even for us--and it has--being associated with institutions like the University of Mississippi and its people is the cost. And it's not nominal.

Uh, none of us wanted y'all.

Nothing worse than westerners and yankees who are wannabe southerners yet act as if they have the right to be condescending in any regard towards the true south about pre-1970s American racism.

Cosigned.

The guy seriously littered shots of himself around Oxford all through the film, all while wearing a friggin derby hat.

The pic you posted of him is the epitome of self-asorbed douchyness.
