I truly hate that the toomers trees had to die to make all the sensitive Auburn posters in this thread so unhappy. Oh well, goodnight.

I know you won't care because you'll cling to the "14" national championships that define your life for comfort but one day you'll step foot outside your trailer park and realize what a joke your school is to the rest of the country.

Alabama has a ton of sidewalk crazies but those people have nothing to do with the school or alumni base itself despite how badly haters want to link the two. They just happen to have picked the same football team to support because people like a winner. It's the same reason that people who have absolutely no connection whatsoever to New York become Yankees fans. Alabama the university takes a back seat to no one in the SEC besides Vandy, Florida, A&M, and UGA so the haters trying to insinuate the sidewalk freak fans equal the school can piss off.

Saban is the face of the program, but Updyke is the face of the fan base...
Just look at the ESPN special Roll Tide / War Eagle and how it was portrayed to the nation. It may not be fair, but it is the perception of the fan base.
ETA: the Bama fans who support him feed the perception. From photos at Bama games, to callers on Fbaum.

Oh, we understand. After all, look at how much ESPN did to portray Auburn as crooked in the Cam Newton saga. Like you said...it may not be fair, but the perception of the fan bases of the rest of the country is that Auburn is dirty.

I agree with this, also... To ignore it, does not make it go away. You may want to add the Fbaum show, the NY Times, certain media members, etc... but I get your point.

bama has no notable gameday traditions. Unless they still play the inaudible drunk ramblings of bear bryant for their pregame video, run out through a houndstooth hat, and parade around national championship banners for years they didn't even finish in the top 20.

In the jealous minds of Auburn fans that subscribe to the NtY crap it does. Misery loves company and when someone knows they are lacking in qualities that they envy in you they seek to put you down.
Good humored jabs are fine, but there are some Bama fans and Auburn fans that are really sad, miserable people. I think you just experienced the opinion of one.
