I can see why they're ranked that high, I'm just saying, putting them in the top 10 without any really significant wins over the past two years is a knee-jerk reaction. Georgia was vastly overrated last year and fell apart after Bama destroyed them in Athens. Northwestern had a good win over Stanford early in the year, but doesn't nearly have the same talent to stop the spread rushing attack Tennessee has.

I get the reason they're up there, I just think putting them in the top 10 is a bit off. 11-17 range would be more fitting IMO. But they do have a favorable schedule.

Haven't you heard? They've been a young team now for almost a decade.

Do you struggle with reading comprehension? VOLS were very young in 2014 and 2015. Most of our best players were underclassmen but now those same baby VOLS are all grown up.

There is zero excuse for Tennessee to not win at least 10 games and the East this season. I've said that numerous times n00b

Also, who knew Cal and Hawaii are kicking off the season on August 26th in Australia? WTF?

They've played CFB games in Europe and Japan (Nebraska played somebody I'm too lazy to look up in Tokyo back in the '90s, and ND has a predilection for playing in Dublin, for instance) Australia actually makes sense to me, at least for these two teams, with Hawaii being the furthest west team in CFB (D1, so not counting Alaskan teams) and Cal being pretty close to as far west as you can get on the mainland. Don't have a globe handy but I imagine the trip to Australia makes more sense than a trip to, say, the British Isles.

Mainly I'm just posting this because I finally got my beloved laptop back from repairs after almost a month and this is my first post on my newly-functional laptop. I was using one of my older ones, three laptops back, in fact, and a man hasn't suffered until he's forced to realize that cutting-edge technology in 2012 is practically useless junk in 2016.

Y'all may proceed to cheer and sing bawdy songs in honor of this event.

Ole miss should be ranked higher

Ole Miss has more talent and has accomplished more than Tennessee in the Butch/Freeze era. We justify a higher ranking. Tennessee is simply hype.

No doubt that Freeze is a better HC than Lyle.

UNC is not that good people. Scar won 3 get last year's and the Tarheel were one of our wins. Look at their schedule from last year, they didn't play anyone with a pulse

Eh, even with their scheduling being as bad as it was, they were still a much different team than what South Carolina had seen. Their team chemistry was very good up until they played Clemson, and even then, they put up 37 points on Clemson.

They were a better than average team last season. Offense led the way, but their defense was bad and the schedule allowed them to stock up on some wins.

Don't think UGA fans have to worry about them anyways. I don't know who they lost to the draft, but they did lose 11 seniors, two of them being the starting QB and a RB who rushed close to 1000 yards.

As much as the defense collapsed the offense kept choking with 3 and outs

I would probably rank us in the 20s somewhere, if at all. Finished last season unranked I believe. 1st year HC. Probably a Tr Fr QB for the majority of the year. DL is still problematic for me, especially in week 1. OL still not settled. Chubb's status still uncertain as of today. K and P question marks. On paper, I see 5 SEC teams better than us.

Nothing but sheer talent, that is primarily young and/or inexperienced, would support a top 20 ranking at this moment.

I want to argue, but I can't. They actually did look pretty impressive against Duke (and Miami, I guess, but that was a program on the ropes) but it never seemed like they were outplaying their opponents to any significant degree. I've called them the Iowa of the ACC, and I think that analogy fits.

TN is ranked right where they should be. LSU should be 10-12. I don't see how FSU and Michigan are that high OU and LSU would wreck both of those teams. Naturally A&M should not even be ranked.

I absolutely agree. I can't see how a team can be top ten with a 20 year losing streak to two rival teams combined.

It's cute when UF fans refer to UGA as Thuga when they have players currently suspended for sexual assault and the only serial killer in NFL history got his start in Gainesville. Back to the topic I think UGA is too high, they will be in transition this season. I think they go around 9-4 including the bowl game but for the 2nd straight cycle Kirby is running circles around Mac and Butch on the recruiting front, got to keep bringing those groceries in.

Most VOLS fans are not that big on butch. I think a lot of his late game decisions have been awful.

Bobby Joe down at the Farragut Walmart doesn't speak for the entire Tennessee fanbase brah
