Well, if UAT had not blocked Fisher's hiring, UAB would not be costing them anywhere near as much.

Guess it was worth it to them though.

he'll be there a few more years so he can lock in his retirement from the State of Alabama. But he'll be gone soon after that.

UAB's best hope is the Dome.

Which also is not going to happen. The NFL is not locating a team in a market it does not need.

Fisher might have won 7-8 games a year for a few years and even gone to some bowl games before he left. And, like were under Watson Brown during his best runs, UAB people would still be nonexistent.

UAB should just dissolve their team or go down in division or something.

good to know because it seemed like both of those were solid reasons if true

Well I wouldn't take either the Auburn or Alabama accounts as factual on whether Bryant was those things or not.

That given the choice almost everyone would choose to live in Birmingham over Tuscaloosa?

Are you counting Mt Brook, Vestavia Hills, Hoover and Homewood as Birmingham?

I think they'll get at least 2-3 years from home and hopefully he leaves a solid foundation for the next coach to build on.

CFB is King right now and UAB has to capitalize on that. I think getting a stadium and decent athletic facilities could go a long way in helping to achieve that

LOL. Dude I like Birmingham but it has pretty bad traffic and way less character than Atlanta. Your points about Atlanta and Dallas are partially legitimate, but acting like Birmingham is some character-rich city is insane. It's Atlanta-light on that front.

Also, are you guys now saying you support the Dome? I thought all the OTM and outsiders vehemently opposed this?

Partially, but Bham has a lot of interior improvement as well that makes it pretty attractive.

as should South Alabama and most of these directional school programs. I don't even know why they exist. They cost students and universities millions of dollars and give very little return.

I think the idea that commuter schools in big areas can "capitalize" on CFB being a big deal is total fools gold. Just my opinion, but almost everyone is a train wreck, even ones that have had success. The only ones I can think of that has had marginally sustained success is Central Florida

- South Florida
- UAB
- Georgia State
- MTSU
- FAU
- FIU

LOLOLOLOL

Good gosh, Birmingham people know nothing about in-town Atlanta.

How bout next time you are in town you visit Kirkwood, Decatur, Edgewood, East Lake, Inman Park, Candler Park, Virginia Highlands, Morningside, East Atlanta, etc. It isn't our fault your trips to Atlanta only involve Buckhead and the Dome.
