I left a job once that paid more than the one I left more.
You spend most of your waking hours at work so it's important to be happy not only in your compensation but also in your environment.
Your rationale that its about money for Miles or Saban only shows your immaturity or lack of experience to real world issues.

If he does stay at Bama, I do hope UT makes a really high offer to make the Gumps match it.

ps, slightly off topic....
Based on the list it would be priceless to be a fly on the wall of the offices of these non SEC schools when the Hogs pass them.
The 100 Million + club (as is)
8 Penn State $108 M
9 Oklahoma $106 M
11 Wisconsin $104 M
13 Florida State $100 M
14 Arkansas $100 M
The 100 Million + club (if SEC TV adds 10 million per school)
? Arkansas $110 M
8 Penn State $108 M
9 Oklahoma $106 M
11 Wisconsin $104 M
13 Florida State $100 M

Agreed, and this is what I keep telling people who ridiculously think he'd go to Texas. Alabama is a better football program than Texas, and the deep south produces better high school talent that's better suited to play his system.
UT boosters are too preoccupied with nonsense and access to ever land someone like Saban, and they'd never allow him complete control like he has at Bama.

Just a couple of things..
1: Alabama vs. Texas as a better job depends on what you prefer. Alabama is where football is complete king and is the most important thing for the University. Texas is more focused on being an academic institution and the sports programs aren't as important to the university leadership despite the fact that they're the highest earning sports program in the country. For Alabama, it hurts the university overall when their football team is down because they have more reliance on money associated with it. Texas doesn't give a shite. That's why Mack Brown is still employed.
2. Texas has more money than Alabama. Texas has a LOT more money than Alabama. Do they care enough to spend it is the question.
3. If Texas bought Nick Saban, would the value of the Longhorn Network not all of a sudden increase?
Personally I think there's about a 1% chance Saban would go to Texas. The ONLY chance isn't about money or anything else.. but rather if he wants to be THE coach that won National Titles at 3 different schools.

If he wanted another "challenge," he'd go back to the NFL and try to create the success that eluded him in Miami.

I believe the same was said of Bama prior to Saban, FWIW. Saban actually ticked many big boosters off, when he cut access

Texas has more resources, but they're not cutthroat enough to deploy those resources.
Alabama boosters are not about to (publicly, mind you) lose a bidding war over the best college football coach since Bear Bryant. Bama boosters practically invented bags of cash and the $100 handshake -- their boosters would loot their kids' college funds to keep Saban.

When you get towards retirement and are facing limited future income almost double your salary adds years towards your retirement. If he was concerned about money, then he would be making half that

True, but you don't have to be a politician at Alabama, you just have to win.
Being the HC at Texas carries a bunch of bullshyt tasks with it like gladhanding oilmen, doing all the LHN crap (could you honestly see Saban dealing well with a friggin TV network following him around?), and kissing babies at church picnics.
Mack is still employed because he's friends with the right people -- all the friends in the world at UAT won't save you from a 7 win season.

Those bass fishermen, deer hunters, and security guards would take out bad lines of credit, pawn granddaddy's watch, and rob banks to keep Saban around.

Texas is easily the #1 job in America and Nick Saban would do better in Texas than what he has done in Alabama.
Bigger payroll
Easier access to top recruits
even EASIER SCHEDULE
More resources than anyone.
Texas has no state income tax dumb arse.

I wouldn't say Texas cares more about academics than athletics but I would agree they care more about academics than Bama. Texas is more like UF or Ohio State or Michigan, they want to be good at both. They aren't Cal Berkeley or UVA.
Texas realizes the revenue and exposure that comes from athletics is a huge boost to the school and thus it is certainly a major priority. I do think they focus too much on the revenue though over winning and that is biting them in the arse now.
One last point, the new playoff structure hurts a school like Texas. If they do not go undefeated they have no chance of getting in whereas an SEC school with 1 loss has a very good chance. There are even scenarios where Texas could go undefeated and still not get in (if the 4 other Majors all had undefeated teams because they have stronger conferences and a Championship game). If you look forward the Big 12 is a huge anchor on Texas and their future options aren't very good outside of a Big 12/ACC merger.
