Here is the quote that caught my attention:

"Texas is a great job. It's a top-five job. Maybe a top-three job. But it's not a better job than Alabama. Saban has complete control of his domain at Alabama"

So, Nick Saban is the Master of his Domain?

I wonder if Tony is a Seinfeld fan and meant to say it in that way? Or he is not a Seinfled fan and unknowingly stumbled into a funny quote? Either way, it just made me chuckle.

if Texas really is offering 10 million (or whatever) Saban is a dummy for not taking it.

This is quite true. I am one that still believes that Texas is a better job than Alabama. Although it maybe be slight, better never the less.

Alabama is the biggest job in Alabama

Cowboys is the biggest job in Texas

Unless Saban is taking a job at JerryWorld then he is staying in AL

Have to see THAT to believe it. And as far as Saban whining about not having complete control. Boo f'n Hoo. Texas is paying you that kind of money and you're going to cry because you can't have everything you want. Hell, I'd call Les Miles a dummy if he didn't jump on that offer.

He'd be making the same money he is now after taxes.

Why? It isn't always about the money brah. I am sure Saban makes plenty of that at Bama anyway and he has Bama on autopilot. Just recruit top 5 classes, compete for titles, and reload. He has the facilities and the staff in place to continue this process until he is ready to retire, which at his age, why would he want to bail out another program.

So are you trying to argue that Alabama doesn't have the resources to pay that kind of money? You're a fool if you do. He's already the highest paid coach in college football, making just over $6 million a year after bonuses and the like. Texas is loaded with cash, but so is Alabama. And if you think Texas is desperate to win, Alabama is ten times that.

This may be true but if Saban would go to Texas and go on a run like he is doing at Bama trust me he would be giving Jerry Jones a run for his money. Those boosters and fans in Austin are terribly hungry. That is one bidding war I would love to see. Hell they should do it on a auctioning format

He wouldn't "cry" about not having control, but the points are:
A.) He has enough money. How much more could he need?
B.) He's getting a bit old to jump jobs
C.) He's a control freak - having control > having money.

Really...so a job that has brought in #1 recruiting classes 3 years in a row, has gone a remarkable 64-7 since 2008, and has won 3 national championships in the last 4 years, is not as good as a job that has struggled to have winning seasons over the last 3 years?

Only in the minds of Longhorn fans.

Recruiting wise, Texas has to compete with Oklahoma and Texas A&M. More often than not over 100 years of history, Oklahoma has gotten the better of Bevo in Texas recruiting. Bud Wilkinson and Barry Switzer won a ton of championships with teams loaded with Texas talent.

Now, not only does Bevo have to fight Oklahoma, but Texas A&M has that SEC thing going for it now. Plus, A&M is closer to East Texas where a lot of those athletes that make Texas a special football state are from. And, its closer to Houston.

The people that think Texas would offer 10 million are ignorant. It just won't happen. Alabama is more than capable of matching what any team WOULD offer. And it's not about money for Saban anyway.

With all that, maybe he could win 4 in a row instead of a measly 3 outta 4.

Money isn't really the main issue because anything that Texas REASONABLY offers (up to $10 million) can/will be matched by Alabama.

Austin is a much better, more exciting city but it seems like Saban prefers smaller cities/towns to larger areas. He couldn't stand Miami and was restless in Lansing, MI and Baton Rouge although he enjoyed his time at LSU. He grew up in a speck on the map and his favorite place is a quiet area in the North Georgia mountains (Lake Burton). For all the criticism of Tuscaloosa and the downplaying of the Bama job, he's been at his current place longer than any stop in his career.

I think he coaches 3 or 4 more seasons at Alabama and eventually takes another shot at the NFL.
