Really...so a job that has brought in #1 recruiting classes 3 years in a row, has gone a remarkable 64-7 since 2008, and has won 3 national championships in the last 4 years, is not as good as a job that has struggled to have winning seasons over the last 3 years?

I don't think he leaves but that is the dumbest argument there is. If that was the case then you could say the same thing about Alabama before he took the job there. The whole point is everything he needs to succeed is there. They just need the coaching staff.

I don't care I love him being at Alabama. Just makes our games against them that much more exciting.

According to DeLoss Dodds, Nick Saban won't be hoisting up any crystal trophies for the Longhorns anytime soon. (Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)
Saban boots four arrested players from team

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds gave Mack Brown another vote of confidence recently and poured cold water on a trendy topic of speculation of Alabama’s Nick Saban being the man to replace Brown.
“I love stability. I love continuity,” Dodds said in an interview with the Daily Texan, the student newspaper at Texas, last week. “If you have stability, you have continuity and you’ve got good people. It’s a formula that works. I think we’ve got that. If somebody tells me we need to change, I say, ‘Ok, but who should we hire? [Alabama head coach Nick] Saban? Well, Saban isn’t going to come here.’ ”

Uncle Sam takes the biggest bite not the state. 10 million a year will wind up as Obama money so the greater the income the more Saban works for Uncle Sam.

Easier access to top recruits

Yep, cause we are really struggling to get recruits that is for sure. Heck, Bama can probably out recruit Texas in Texas right now.

Texas is not even close to the best job in the country IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CHAMPIONSHIPS. The big money, big cigar types care more about their access to the program which they perceive as social cache than ceding control to a Saban type that will demand accountability within the program. Why do you think Mack Brown has lasted so long?
If you are a coach like Saban Texas is everything antithetical to your way of life - style and prestige is more highly valued than process and results. Again, why do you think MAck Brown has lasted so long? He schmoozes the power players and allows them unfettered access. Do you honestly see Nick schmoozing anyone?
I know y'all are desperate to get out from under Saban's shadow but quit spouting this "Texas is the greatest job ever! ZOMG!" horsecrap.

If Saban has publicly stated that he is not going to be the coach of the Texas Longhorns, then that means there's a chance that he does go!!

He left LSU for more MONEY in the NFL!!

He left the NFL because he realized that he could not control players that were making several DOLLARS more a year than he was and that he was not ready for the NFL challenge.

Bama just SO HAPPENED to have a vacant HC job when Saban was ready to leave the NFL!!

Conspiracy Theories will tell you that mid season, Bama contacted Saban regarding the HC job and all he had to do would be to deny everything unitl the jet arrived to fly him out of Miami!!

Bottom line is the guy is a great coach with no values as a man. Had he wanted to jump to the big leagues from LSU, then stand up and say so. If you were getting your arse handed to you in the NFL and wanted the job in Bama, then stan the frick up and say so!! If he wanted to be the next and better version of The Bear then ROLL FRICKING TIDE!!! If he had the chest to be the first to have a statue built outside Tiger Stadium then GEAUX TIGERS!!

But in Texas there are no hillbillies, rednecks, coonasses, rebel flags, southern bells making you home made pies or any of that shite..... it's just Texas and there's no shadow hanging over him. Let's just see if they will actually put Mack Brown out to pasture.

PEACE!

Not to bail out. To be the only college coach to win three national titles at three different schools.

Means shiz to him. Hopefully he can get this 3 in a row thing whipped and he will go down as one of the best, if not the best coach to ever walk on the sideline of a college football stadium.

Nearly all, but not quite all.

I'd disagree. They're both two of the best jobs in college football, but I see Texas as having a slight advantage.

The current state of the Longhorn's program doesn't support this argument. But, I believe if Saban had been given the choice of Texas or Bama when he left Miami, I'd bet that he would of taken Texas.

Everything is about recruiting and, regardless of the wave that A&M is on right now, Texas just has to right it's ship, adjust it's recruiting process away from locking in kids on Jr. Day and it wouldn't take long till the best players in Tx. will be looking at Austin first to make their decision.

Money and people are no problem at Texas. Not a big problem at Alabama either but if I was to bet on a pissing contest between the two, then I'd bet Texas could piss further.

It would have come down to who would have given him more control. Mal Moore was a desperate man in 2006. UT had and still has so much politics and baggage to put up with.

Even with the assumed recruiting advantage, the entire state of Texas has only won 1 NC since 1970. Compare that to Florida, Alabama, or LA. Oklahoma takes who they want and they win titles and own the Horns. The best recruits are in the deep south, and Saban is tearing it up right now.

You. Know. Nothing.

Bama would match ANY financial offer from ANY college team. Texas isn't going to offer $20M a year. It would be ridiculous to assume so.

This is all so stupid

If Saban leaves its for the NFL period.

And tony Barnhart is a washed up blow-hard. One of the most uninteresting "personalities" ever

so 40% of 6 million out and he makes..?? 3.6 million?

and 40% of 10 million out = he makes 6 million?

Are you people this dumb?? He would obviously make more money still.

I never said he is struggling but being the biggest college in the state with the BEST RECRUITS IN THE NATION things get a little bit easier for you.
