The Vols shouldn't been in tier 1. Tier 3 and 4 could be one tier . Tier 3 is closer to Vandy then tier 2.

Florida State up

Tennessee and Michigan down

Tier 1:
Alabama
LSU
Georgia
Florida
USC
Texas
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Florida State

Tier 2:
Michigan
Oklahoma
A&M
UCLA
Oregon
Clemson
Auburn
Tennessee
Penn State

There's 9 in each tier and the rest have a much harder time when all factors are considered

On the surface of it I agree FSU should be higher, but as the article points out, they just don't have the $$$ to run with the big boys.

If McElwain works out like I think he will at UF, UF will bury FSU in the next decade.

Also, Miami better make a good hire soon, they are in danger of falling heavily.

ep, I am sure we will never be able to hire anyone as great as Butch, Lane, and Derek. But, I can always dream I guess.

2 of those 3 are undefeated against you. Just keep that in mind.

I would actually like to get Kiffin at Carolina now. I am in the minority I'm sure.

Tennessee is a quality program that has been down awhile. I would put them in that category along with schools like Nebraska, Miami, Penn St.

but Tier 1 is the merciless pinnacle, In my mind reserved for programs that combine 4 things

1-Historical Dominance: 75+ years of national relevance in the past 100 years of football.
2-Hardware: 8-10+ national titles claimed. 25+ conference titles (ND excepted obvi)In tier 1, bowl appearances/wins in shitty bowls is a negative.
3-Eternal Dominion: No reason to doubt a bright shiny future.
4-Arrogance: If I don't personally resent your fanbase as being a bunch of arrogant shitbags, you haven't reached the pinnacle in my mind.

I do not think Georgia is there. 2 national titles simply isn't enough, Sure, 2013 title was a pass away, but there are lots of instances of that.

Shouldn't A&M win something of value before consideration?

Have they even finished higher then 3rd in the SEC west yet?

LSU: Les Miles has been to two national title games. It’s not even clear he can coach on Saturdays. That’s the type of talent one finds in Louisiana

It's almost comical how it's regurgitated yet he continues to win.

So many others one could choose to say this about and actually have facts to back it up.

That list is shite. UGA and UTk are NOT tier 1 jobs. Switch Auburn with UGA and AnM with UTk, and then switch broke arse UTk with Upig. UTk is barely a tier 3 job now. Nobody wants to deal with that train wreck other than angry dykes.

This is silly af. Ole Miss and State have it so much easier when it comes to recruiting. Maybe State and Ole Miss don't belong in tier 3, if that's the case, Kentucky belongs in tier 5.

Edit:
Wait, UTK is a tier 1 job? Could someone explain to me why they keep hiring shitty coaches if it's such a good job? Why they have a worse record than Vandy since 2012?

OU just isn't what it used to be. I'd say they are tier 2 now.

TN is defiently not tier 1

Notre Dame is tier 2 as well.

aTm is tier 2 at best
