Now, Butch Jones sucks, but this program is in an exponentially better position than it was 3 years ago.
But are you "Tier 1?"
Or should I say Tear 1?

Hell, after Fulmer "resigned", we could have had Patterson, but we went with Kiffin. Dumbest move Hamilton ever made. Now, Butch Jones sucks, but this program is in an exponentially better position than it was 3 years ago.
Agreed. Also when we hired Dooley it was well known Sumlin was begging for the job, worked out well for him not to get it, but it just shows that our AD was a moron.
Also when Butch Jones inevitably gets let go either after next year or in a few years, the program will make a tier 1 hire at that point.

You can't be a tier 1 job if a coach leaves your school for a better job. So Tennessee isn't a tier 1 job.

Honestly, with the money and facilities that USC now possess, they're a solid tier 2 school.

Hell, Cutcliff would have taken the job, in a heartbeat. Hamilton showed a complete lack of respect for him, and Kippy.

I'm good with that.

One of your tier 1 schools is distinctly different from the others
if you're a coach, you don't GAF about if the team has won a title in the last decade...that's for fans.
If you're a potential coach, you're looking at:
-access to good talent
-money
-facilities
-tradition/prestige
-what you have as a starting point to work with (is the cupboard empty or stocked)
-the town/city for purposes of living and raising a family
UGA has all of those, so the fact we haven't won a title recently means exactly nothing to a potential head coach.

This was my thought as well as he describes a tier 1 job as a program a coach would never leave under normal circumstances.
I guess he views TN ever choosing to actually hire Kiffin and him getting a job at another tier 1 school where he had an extensive history as an unusual circumstance .

With Hart as the AD? Meh, probably not. But we're high tier 2, now. We weren't 3 years ago, we were close to tier 4.

Your GOAT team lost to Butch Jones, BUTCH JONES FOR frick'S SAKE.

UGA wasn't the school I was referring to. It's been like 9 years since Tennessee had an 8 win season. The fact that they've been pretty awful over the last 10 or so years makes them very different from the other schools they're listed with

At this point I just assume everone is talking crap about uga.
my bad.

Then y'all go and hire spanky hart. So can't hire a decent AD, can't hire a decent HC. Must be the prez. Need to get the pitchforks and torches after his arse.

And you could relay some of your points to Tennessee but I think it's become obvious over the last few coaches that it isn't that easy of a school to win at. Also the fact that Kiffin left for another college job is a strike against it

As soon as that brick shipment comes in, that motherfricker is done, it's over.

I don't think Tennessee ever offered Jimbo or Gundy IIRC.
