Just caught his post game presser from last night and I'm a big fan of that guy's toughness and accountability. Love what he's doing with Carolina. You cocks are lucky to have him.

He's a great coach but it's too hard to get elite talent to USCjr. He's brought South Carolina up to the top of the SEC this year without a ton of competition. But the rest of the SEC is catching up with coaching hires, and those other coaches seem to be bringing in much better talent. Starting next year you'll see South Carolina start to slide back to the middle of the SEC. If he wants to compete at the highest level consistently in the SEC then he'll need to go somewhere he can build something like Mizzou

Everyone on here who follows basketball would shite their pants if Zion chose to come to SC. That kid...well to just call him something special would be an insult to him. Unbelievably talented.

Why do you think this? USC was pretty damn good at basketball in the Frank McGuire days. Its in the middle of Columbia surrounded by Charlotte, Charleston, Greenville, and Atlanta. Odd sentiment considering your team in the middle of nowhere.

You know when I was sold on him? It was either his 2nd or 3rd year. And I think our OOC was going (relatively) well or we had been a decent team that we weren't expected to beat.
After the bottoming out of the Horn-era and the worst year in our school's history in Horn's last year, SC fans were pretty happy.
And Frank's first response to the media was something along the lines of, "when you win, people forget or ignore about the mistakes you made during the game and they start falsely building up the team into something it's not" Frank was proved right in his first couple of seasons as he worked through those mistakes and we lost a lot of games.
And I guess I had never really thought about how true that is, especially as a fan. It's too easy to look past errors if your team pulls out the W anyway. But it doesn't get past Frank.
He is like Spurrier in that he owns his actions and will be the first to blame the coaching for a loss before anything else.
He also isn't afraid to hold practices where balls aren't even used with the sole focus being on footwork and movement.

Yes we are. He's not only a great coach, but he is really involved in community service, makes sure his guys do right (kicked some off the team in a critical situation last year because of their dumbassery) and he supports all the other sports programs - attends baseball, football, women's basketball and other sports functions all the time.
He's really become part of our family. His wife is a great gal too - she says they are here until they die.

Let's not forget that suspending Thornwell earlier in the year cost us at least 3 losses, including a close one to Clemson.

Good, not great coach who can't coach offense for shite but recruits and instills toughness and great defensive fundamentals.
He's a high-floor, low-ceiling guy. Can't imagine him ever winning a title but should be in the postseason most years.
