probably.... but the college allstars played the NFL champions for over 40 years. They won about 25% of the time. So it is not as far fetched as you may believe.

Last time I heard Finescum say Bama could beat an NFL team, they got their asses handed to them the next week by South Crackalaky

Paul is such an idiot. At best it would be like the UT-Bama game with the scores reversed.

The last time this happened was in the late 70's. The athletes playing football today are in a different stratosphere than those guys. Not at the skill positions maybe but the OLs and DLs are head and shoulders above college players. That's where the NFL guys would dominate.

Jesus Christ. The Kentucky vs 76ers bull shite has made its way to football.

At least with the NBA its conceivable- the low end 76ers of a few seasons ago vs. a college team with say 3 top 5-10 picks including one of those once or twice a decade level guys- I could maybe see that given that players do come in right away and dominate at times- but football? Please the lines of scrimmage alone would be a massacre.

well you see, Alabama, believe it or not, would not comprise the entire team of college all stars either. Not to mention, the NFL is a completely different animal now than it was in the early 70s and prior

I could see that- the size difference alone would be devastating.

what about the third one which I said was the best - The Miracle on Ice.

Also, those two examples were a 1/1 victory (not the Miracle on Ice) and not the 1/1000 situation discussed.

Why do people always focus on a portion of the comment instead of an entire post?

The problem is that football such a team sport- the best chance of a pro vs. amateur upset are in sports where one or two individual players going off can carry a team- its why you see a hell of a lot more high seed upsets in basketball or why a great staff can carry a shitty baseball team to the title. Hockey's similar if you have a hot goalie you can beat a far superior overall team.

Football isn't like that- a great dual threat QB is the only thing I can think of anywhere near the same level and even then it's not the same (even a peak Brady level pocket passer is screwed with a bad line and/or shitty targets, ditto for a dominant back with the exception of Barry Sanders who wasn't human and thus didn't need holes to run through).

To be fair, every single starter on that team ended up on an NFL roster at some point I believe.

Even if this were true all those guys will not be yearly starters in the NFL. And ones that will be are not NFL ready. The 0-16 Lions team could beat this Bama team 56-0 if they wished.

And those that think otherwise are proving themselves clueless.

Does Alabama have 53 legit NFL players on it's roster? Because that's what Cleveland has.

And? This Bama team is not compromised entirely of All-American players. NFL players are also a lot different now than they were in the 60s and 70s. You're crazy to think Bama would even stand a chance versus the worst team in the NFL like the Browns.

I was thinking the same thing, need a hot qb with some running ability and can make accurate throws on the move vs. a shite qb who is just off - receivers dropping balls, etc.
