Looked eerily similar to the way Auburn's secondary has played the past few years

Who calls getting Thompson a victory like keeping score? He is merely a LB coaching hire. Most of the fans on this site would have preferred getting Micheal Barrows.

Well Rayburn and AuburnPhan are 2 of the top of my head, but there were multiple others.

From founder of Rivals and 247sports Shannon Terry:

Saban told Lance Thompson to explore his other options.

Saban has been known to point coaches toward the door when they've outlived their perceived usefulness - see Doug Nussmeier a year ago - but any suggestion that Saban nudged out Steele and Thompson because Alabama surrendered 44 points in the Iron Bowl win over Auburn and 42 points in the semifinal loss to Ohio State seems a bit of a stretch. Kirby Smart coordinates the defense, Saban oversees it and besides, the biggest problem on that side of the ball has been secondary play.

Who's been working with the defensive backs on a daily basis? Not Steele and Thompson. Smart and Saban.

A person close to the program suggested - a sign that working for Saban has become more uncomfortable than usual in the wake of the semifinal loss to Ohio State.

I enjoy the "hey Watts, did Saban tell Steele to leave too? I bet he did. Oh and Kirby beat him up during bowl week and Saban sided with smart." thread on there

And you guys are insecure over this notion that you won some major victory hiring Lance Thompson

We rejoiced in getting a quality recruiter. Your guys spun it that you didn't want him anyway. Typical bama bullshite.

Word is both Steele and Thompson were told they were being replaced. Linebacker production did not score well enough.

Yea, that stellar DB play made the Linebacker play look like crap.

Yeah, I also heard Auburn isn't happy with them so far. Told them to start looking.

I thought Barrows was looking very probable. I am sure Thompson will be fine, but Barrows would have been my first choice.

based on what I was reading (admittedly some of it on here as well.) I thought Barrows was a done deal? This whole Thompson thing surprised me. However, would be good to have another coach/recruiter who knows the regional HS coaches well.

I take nothing Finebaum says as the truth. I do believe he believes everything he says. Sad to say, Jim & those other clowns are giving ESPN all the ratings they could want & more, sorta like the Jerry Springer dynamic, so we're going to be stuck with him for a while.

He should show Auburn the 4 finger thing you all invented to signify the beginning of the 4th quarter.

Since when is Scarbinsky close to the program and he is merely speculating. Aaron Suttles, a Bama beat reporter in Tuscaloosa, reported yesterday that Thompson was let go.
