Well of course most Ags are in Texas. We're a huge state flagship. But this thread is about largest OOS populations

Not surprising that San Francisco would be #1 for Texas A&M.

But it is surprising that it's #3 for UGA.

So you're telling me that Tuscaloosa is "the big city" when you go to Starkville?

I feel like it has to be counting MSU professors / grad students that have linkedin profiles as Tuscaloosa residents.

Could you look up UF alumni numbers in Florida on LinkedIn? Interested to see which city has the most.

If I had to guess I would say the actual top 3 for MSU would be Memphis, Atlanta and Nashville.

Nevermind...I was wrong...Dallas and Houston both top Nashville.

Sure - I would think places like Florida, where there aren't many GIANT cities but there are a lot of medium size cities real close might screw things up, but we will give it a shot

1. Gainesville (28,792)
2. Miami/Ft Lauderdale (19,600)
3. Tampa/St Pete (15,652)
4. Orlando (13,808)
5. Jacksonville (10,512)
6. West Palm Beach (7,372)
7. Melbourne FL (2,656)
8. Sarasota (2,471)
9. Tallahassee (2,034)

This is not surprising to anyone who knows Alabama/Georgia, but there are more Auburn alums in Metro Atlanta than Metro Birmingham.

I doubt this.

I would think the alumni in Birmingham are just less likely to use linkedIn than the ones in Atlanta.

Maybe it is just counting their bartending experience at the Pumping Station.

Doesn't seem like it was a myth at one point, based on the numbers in this thread. You have to figure that it's only those that are signed up for LinkedIn, so even if it's 1/3 of UF grads in NYC signed up (which is most likely extremely generous), you're looking at 30,000+ UF grads in the NYC area alone.

I think the high numbers in NYC, DC, etc. are more indicative of UF being a good, well respected school. I know several Gators working in New York with zero connections to the state.

Is it common for Florida grads to move to NYC, or for New Yorkers to attend UF? I wouldn't have made that connection.

UF has a decent amount of NE kids iirc.

Yeah, south florida is full of people from the north east. A Giants or Patriots game has about as many Giant or Patriot fans as Dolphins. Same when the Knicks are in town or the Yankees.

Purely anecdotal, but I can only think of one classmate who is now in Atlanta.

I can think of close to ten who are in NYC.

I don't give a shite, but Rooster's not nearly as out to lunch as you think.
