That's probably accurate in terms of those who are registered on, or members of, LinkedIn ... but I'm fairly sure there are more Gamecock alumni living in NYC than in DC or Atlanta.

I saw some numbers at a Board of Visitors meeting last year, or the year before, and we have a huge presence in NYC. I just think most of them are probably older and not willing to join LinkedIn because they are well past the need to network through LinkedIn.

Go to linkedin and in the search box search for the University. It lists all sorts of analytical stats for people with that school in their bio (degree, current company, current location, etc).

You can't actually look up by city (at least not on the free version), so you have to look up by schools then tally up their totals for each city (if that makes sense).

Honestly, I'm shocked that Memphis isn't number one for State. That number seems way too low.

LinkedIn varies in popularity by city. It's not nearly as popular in Houston as it is here in Boston, for example.

I doubt it's very popular in Memphis, but I don't really know as I've never job hunted there.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that Starkville technically falls under the "Tuscaloosa MSA" for linkedin, so there could be quite a few professors/grad students/etc that are at State that get counted in with Tuscaloosa.

I think Oxford is included in Memphis' as well.

I'm actually surprised DFW is not higher. It will grow rapidly for us since over 20% of the student body is now from Texas. We probably send 500 or so new grads to DFW annually now.

Yep, the whole reason I looked them up was because I see so many Michigan State tags around on the perimeter and driving around town.

They even have their own State of Georgia tag now don't they? I think Penn State does too.

You just notice them more because they're loud shitheads from the North and have nasally shitty accents.

It's a myth that a large number of UF students are from the NE.

I would guess a lot of Florida kids are the kids of ex-northeasterners, but I could be totally off base there.

There are tons of Florida people in Atlanta.

Me too, but there aren't nearly as many Carolina people here as you would think. Definitely not more in NYC than Charlotte.

Yea I think Scrooster and his band of merry cocks want to seem more metropolitan by playing up the NYC thing when the numbers don't bear that out at all.
