(Plus, the fact that A&M is so pathetic in their desire to be Texas' main rival makes most of us automatically pick OU as the main rival.)

Agreed. A&M is the Colin Kaepernick writing unsolicited emails to the Jets trying to get a tryout for QB when it comes to being pitiful and sad and pathetic in wanting to be our main rivals. You almost feel bad. It's definitely cringe when a&m posters were trying make LSU their new rival and LSU were like:

Well considering the rivalry has been even since the 70's with A&M you have endured a lot of catastrophe in your lifetime. It never ceases to crack me up how sips try to act like A&M is some little cow college like it was 75 years ago or that Texas just dominates over A&M in some way still.

I’ve seen your username for a long time across boards.. so I assume it’s the same person.. anyways..

Why do y’all throw your National Titles away like that? You were good enough to win a NC.. but not good enough to compete with Texas? Come on.
Sorry. 3 NC

On that topic, I wonder if we will now claim some more championships..
Alabama and Aggie style.

Texas vs A&M 118 Games
1st 50 games - 67%
Next 50 games - 67%
Last 18 games - 67%

Overall 76-34-5
67% Percent

move the goalpost all you want, but those are the facts.. meet me at Doubledave’s and I’ll fight you

I'm half a century years old and the series is basically even in my lifetime. I have a son who is getting ready to go to college and he wasn't born for the only Natty you won in my lifetime.

I only use aggressor on this board btw so don't know about cheap imitations elsewhere.

I'm a 3rd generation Longhorn, met my wife there, and am a former 20-year season ticket holder. I don't know a single Texas fan that considers anyone other than OU to be our main rival. We hate them but we respect them. Personally, I don't hate A&M (other than the potbanger/Milkman/Corps contingent, but this is a small portion of their fanbase), but I don't respect them, either.

One thing I will say positively about both schools - the academic smack talk is very inaccurate. Gates (A&M) and Boren (OU) dramatically improved academics across the board, and with the Top 6% rule for UT (ironically a significant disadvantage to kids attending good in-state public schools), I would have been OK (but not thrilled) if my kids had gone to either one. Thankfully they were too brainwashed in their formative years to even consider it.

No no no

You have to either go back only 18 years

Or the whole 100+ years

50 years is way too specific and cherry picking data

Texas fans- I have a question about rivalries by aggressor

They always say OU but it's mainly just a once a year game in the middle of the year to them. Other than that the Sips and Sooners are best buddies with the Sooners gladly doing whatever Texas tells them to do.

All of their traditions though are about A&M. Texas Fight is based on Farmer's Fight. They came up with their hand sign to counter ours. They took their nickname Longhorns from our original yearbook. They named it BEVO after we stole it and branded it 13-0 and that was the best they could do to cover it. They had a Hex Rally to counter our Bonfire.

The funniest thing to me is how they insist that OU is their real rival when they obsess about us and will run to threads like this to scream how OU is really the one they hate.

This is the dumbest thing I'll read all day, and it's not even 8am here. And I'll be on the internet most of the day.

Aggy has a lot of t-shirt fans as well!
A&M doesn't have t-shirt fans. Pretty much the only fans I know went to school there, or have family that did so.

As it relates to sports Oklahoma is the biggest rival. However, I don't dislike OU fans or the school. A&M fans and graduates are like a cult and and the disdain runs deep.

You need to get out more then. Small town East Texas is basically a large aggregate of Aggie T-shirt fans.

And I think most A&M folks find rabid Texas fans to be tedious, mediocre, and highly insecure beerguts whose fragile sense of self-esteem rests completely on an inflated view of their school.

Dealing with Texas Exes is a decades long eye-rolling exercise, punctuated by weary sighs here and there.

If they're a fan and they didn't go there, they're still a "tshirt" or "sidewalk" fan.

Cool. The Texas fans don't care about A&M either. So let's stop talking about bringing back the A&M/UT game on Thanksgiving.

A&M can keep the LSU game.

Give Texas Arkansas that weekend.

And Mizzou can play whoever is left. OU, I guess?

this is 100% the way it should be

from a scheduling perspective, I don’t know how anything else works for LSU, as I have said several times

everyone is happy with this solution imo

In this century alone:

Football: 9-3 advantage Texas
Basketball: 22-8 advantage Texas
Baseball: 38-22 advantage Texas

Texas owns the most recent scoreboard in every single sport both schools have with exception to women's golf.

Seems pretty dominant...

Incoming.. but we beat you in Omaha..

We could be 174-0 in a sport and they would still find a way to argue that the margin of defeat has been shrinking since (insert some random date here)

OU.

Maybe it's an age thing but for me Arkansas is more hated as well. I'm sure the Pigs here will concur but to me rivalry is about hate and respect in terrible measure. I hate OU and I hate the Pigs.

BigBro....your description of the two rivalries of Texas with A&M and OU sorta mirrors exactly how USC views Notre Dame and UCLA.

Traditionally, Notre Dame is USC's biggest and most hated rival; yet UCLA, being cross-town, is like a family feud, in-house type fight.

Notre Dame is all-out war in every aspect -- the schools themselves, the fight songs, the marching bands, the number of national titles won (both tied at 11 each), Heisman winners, and overall tradition. It's a respectful hate, but it's for all the marbles and bragging rights each year.
