Even actually, OU because they are from Oklahoma and don’t like dirt burglars coming into our state. A&M because we like kicking our little brothers $SS.

Texas has a lot of tshirt fans that will downplay the A&M Texas game. However, the actual graduates of both schools sing a different tune.

The past few decades it’s been OU for sure because they’ve been up and A&M had a downturn after 2k. But in the early 90’s when the aggies had R.C. and where hot and OU was down I saw the aggies as our biggest rivals.

They are completely different.
One is against family, friends, co-workers and bragging rights. The games haven’t historically meant a whole lot, but you never want to lose. It’s more good natured ribbing.. water cooler talk..
The other is just fricking awesome. You know you are going to get your arse locked sometimes, but it’s a fricking battle. It’s doesn’t matter how good your team is, or what your record is, or what your ranked.. you want to skull frick every single one of them and bury them alive. It’s intense hatred at the fair. You don’t get that on here because most of us don’t know many of the other fans.
Idk if that makes sense.
If I had to pick one.. I’m always going to be Oklahoma. That doesn’t mean that A&M isn’t as important.. it is.. it’s just different.
I would choose to play both forever.

Texas A&M is to Texas what Oklahoma State is to Oklahoma. We deal with them because we have to share the same state as them.

BloU is the only rivalry we care about, and it's not just me. Maybe some new ones form when we join the SEC, but those are built over decades, not just a few seasons. Oh,and true rivalries aren't lopsided.

Why? We lead the overall series like 63-50. Even if it were the other way round it wouldn't exactly be lopsided. This is the one game where it doesn't matter which team is ranked where or how the season is generally going. Some of the worst Texas teams of the past decade have managed to wear the golden hat.??

While the Texas/OU rivalry is important it was different losing to the aggies in small town Texas where the town is literally split 50/50 in who they support. I actually miss the Aggies of the 90’s….we need our in state villains.

I get it, you like playing aggy. That's fine, but everyone I know considers OU much more of a rivalry.

They always say OU but it's mainly just a once a year game in the middle of the year to them. Other than that the Sips and Sooners are best buddies with the Sooners gladly doing whatever Texas tells them to do.
All of their traditions though are about A&M. Texas Fight is based on Farmer's Fight. They came up with their hand sign to counter ours. They took their nickname Longhorns from our original yearbook. They named it BEVO after we stole it and branded it 13-0 and that was the best they could do to cover it. They had a Hex Rally to counter our Bonfire.

Oklahoma by far is the biggest rival. A&M is that lose/lose situation either you beat them like you are supposed to or they beat you and it is a catastrophic loss but even when you win it isn't really a win because you were supposed to.
The only school who has the same setup is Michigan with Ohio State & Michigan State.

UGA with Florida and GT is very similar; Tech has fallen off the map recently, but we have the same situation - beating Florida is better; losing to Tech is worse
