Bama had high expectations because they hired a proven winner. Those expectations were completely reasonable. I just fear many Tennessee fans are setting themselves up for disappointment by clinging to any statistic that could be construed as positive (riding a small winning streak over the likes of UK, Vandy, Iowa, USCe) while disregarding all other evidence that the mediocrity will continue (unprecedented roster attrition in their recent recruiting "success," no proven QB, etc). I'm all for optimism guys, but lay off the KoolAid or this season will really be a letdown. Just embrace the new normal: 5-7 wins in the SEC ain't too shabby.

I'm just answering the question, no need to get your panties in a wad.

There is hype whether you want to cry about it or not and those are the main reasons for it.

It seems pretty logical to me.

TN looked great down the stretch with Dobbs, should only be MUCH better with more talent and experience in 2015.

They were only 1 point worse than UF, 3 pts worse than UGA (both without Dobbs when our OL was an even bigger hinderance to the O) and 7 points worse than Missouri last year and 2 of those have major QB issues this year and Missouri has a big DL problem.

The hype isn't that TN will be a national title contender just that they could be in the top 3 of the East and possibly win it, not sure why that is so shocking.

I bought the Tennessee hype last year, not happening again until I see it. Just laying out the reasons why. Nothing personal, just putting things in context.

I don't think the hype is once again that TN is going to be a SEC Title or NCAA Tourney contender. Just much better than recent years.

Much of that has to do with our lack of question marks and the teams on our schedules issues.

Oklahoma - New everything coaching wise and multiple postion issues (Vols play them at home).

@UF - What isn't a question here, the only thing they have working for them is a streak that will be easier to break on the road then at home at this point.

Arkansas - they lost most of their D playmakers and have jsut as much recent losing history at TN and the game is in Knox.
UGA Big QB questions, New OC for first time in a long time, Huge game week before TN, ability to lose to lesser teams at any moment, game in Knoxville.

@Bama- I haven't seen anyone say we have a shot here. But even with that Bama really has more ?s than TN. Just much much more options for answers and will be fine.

USC - Tons of questions, Vols match up well with them, game in Knoxville.

@Missouri - This is a game I am expecting to lose but they have beig DL issues and a worse QB situation.

So it is a bi-product of what I said earlier and that no one else is a safe bet for the "media".

What TN hype last year???

Sites had us predicted between 4-8 and 6-6. There was absolutley no one that expected anything better than what our team produced.

Most think we overachieved.

I as a biased fan only had us at 7 wins.

Actually, Iowa was probably a better win....Utah State was probably a better win, too.

"DL issues"...dream on tenny. They said the same thing after 2013 because 90%+ of the SEC knows NOTHING about our depth. Kool-Aid aside, I expect a better overall D in 2015.

"worse QB situation"...IF (and a big IF) our passing game matures (WR), watch out. QB is okay. We're gonna pound y'all with the running game regardless. Experienced/big OL and solid RB by committee.

It's gonna be a darn good fall and early winter in CoMO.
