Did he get Mack Brown's permission to say that?

The last thing they want is for Missouri to win the conference tournament, and know there's a very good chance we'll do so. Just watch - the officiating is going to be ugly. They'll do everything they can to make sure we lose.

Don't bring that whiny shite to the SEC.

Yeah but could you imagine having to deal with the WVU fanbase every year?? My dad lived in Charelston for a year, he said they are the most rediculous, irrational fanbase out there. A near- LSU rowdiness, Alabama-like attitude, with a Vanderbilt sized trophy case

Not permission. He was most likely following orders.

TCU will eventually become a middle of the road team in the Big 12. They sucked in the SWC and they will be nothing special in the Big 12.

Having to travel to Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma 4 or 5 times a year will catch up to them as well.(talking about WV)

All Stoops is doing is getting the lobbying going early, trying to state that the Big 12 is still a legit conference, so when its BCS time, his team will get a few more points.

He doesn't necessarily believe what he is saying. He is saying it to help OU.

I still think it's a load of horse crap that they have 2 bye weeks during the season. The NCAA should mandate all regular season games be done before Dec 1st. Allowing them 2 bye weeks and allowing them to play regular season games when other Conferences are having CG's is bogus. If they want to play on that date, they need to get 2 more teams and have a CG. Stoops and co, stated after Neb and Col left they were glad they didn't have a CG anymore. They don't deserve exposure on the same day others are playing an extra game, after wimping out like that.

I guess he forgot how WV was taken to the wood shed by SEC teams, much like Big 12 teams usually are.

West Virginia actually has a winning record against the SEC while Texas A&M is 58-80 all-time against the SEC. Furthermore, TCU has won the same number of BCS bowl games as the number of bowl games Texas A&M has won over the last 15 years. Stoops is right. In recent years, West Virginia and TCU have been better football programs than Texas A&M and Missouri. More BCS bowl wins, more top 5 finishes, more top 10 finishes, etc....

Honestly though, what would you expect him to say? The Okies wanted to make a move but were bitch slapped back to Bevo's teet by the Pac-12. He's gotta try to save as much face as possible.

Nailed it.
He is jealous.
OU couldn't get out and head to the Pac 12 because of the baggage little brother Okie State brought, but he sees Mizzou and A&M heading to greener pastures.

but for the most part TCU and WVU have been playing in leagues full of glorified high school teams... now that they are in one of the real football conferences i doubt that recent pattern of success continues. It'll be a tall order to supplant both Texas and OU for the league's BCS bid

When was the last time Stoops and Oklahoma won a national championship? I can't remember.

If that is your rationale for basing strength of program, then Mizzou > WVU > A&M > TCU.
It's a poor standard.

I also think it is ironic that you point out BCS wins, higher finishes, etc. for TCU and WVU yet fail to point out the notably easier path they have to get to those games (especially WVU being in an auto-qualifying league that clearly doesn't deserve to be)... yet this is the very same argument the SEC is forced to make when comparing its 10-2 teams that played an SEC schedule against 11-1/12-0 teams from lesser conferences.

You are also ignoring the fact that TCU SUCKED epically before Patterson (much like Mizzou after the 60s and before Pinkel).

TCU is 0-24 vs. A&M since 1973

And since 2008, ASU is 1-0 vs. A&M.

TCU would have ripped Aggy a new one this past decade. 2001 was a long long time ago.

At TCU's all-time high and one of A&M's all-time lows.

Let's be honest here, if you are forced to add a team to the SEC and your options are A&M and TCU, who are you going to take?

TCU is going to be a 4th-7th place team in the Big 12. They still can't recruit for shite, and that won't fly in the Big 12.

A&M just had shitty coaches from the end of the Slocum era through Sherm. Talent wasn't the issue and still isn't.

Both are immaterial. We don't even need to speculate on either question as I'm not current on TCU football during the 1978 or 1982 seasons and TAMU is a better fit for the SEC, regardless of whether TCU can whip them or not. Point was simply 0-24 from 1973-2001 is meaningless today.
