quote:

Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops had some interesting things to say when addressing the media, including this not-so-subtle shot at outgoing Big 12 members Texas A&M and Missouri… “When you look at what these guys [West Virginia, TCU] have done, we are bringing in two ranked teams at the end of the year and the two that left [Texas A&M, Missouri] I don’t know that they were,” Stoops said. “I can’t remember.”

I guess he forgot how WV was taken to the wood shed by SEC teams, much like Big 12 teams usually are.

Honestly though, what would you expect him to say? The Okies wanted to make a move but were bitch slapped back to Bevo's teet by the Pac-12. He's gotta try to save as much face as possible.

Stoops is a friggn' blowhard, but I agree that Mizzou and aTm is like adding clones of the 2 Mississippi teams .

I disagree. Push at best. WV will be behind Okie and Tx and TCU, may reach a conference title game.

I have no problems with this. He wants the B12 to be seen as a strong league so OU isn't jumped in the polls come BCSNCG time.

He's wrong. But it wasn't a shot at Mizzou and A&M personally IMO

Much ado about nothing, similar to Les' "chest" comment Stoops was preaching to the choir, the media are paid trolls, making a big deal out of nothing in order to put food on the table

For the most part, the conference and schools/people in it are taking as many jabs as they can. The conference coaches voted Bill Self and Fred Hoiberg (ISU) as co-coaches of the year, dissing Frank Haith. The AP voted Frank Haith. Whispers are that it's payback, both for leaving and for Pinkel voting Alabama ahead of OSU in the end-of-season poll, when the other bevo coaches voted OSU. Not to mention the "bevo ban" - refusing to schedule Mizzou and A&M in any sport for the immediate future.

The last thing they want is for Missouri to win the conference tournament, and know there's a very good chance we'll do so. Just watch - the officiating is going to be ugly. They'll do everything they can to make sure we lose.

Stoops was too big of a puss to leave big brother and compete in a real league.

Besides that small little technicality that will put even MORE cash into your coffers. But other than that, sure, you'd be happier with the chromosome challenged gene puddle from wva.

This topic was discussed ad nauseum on texasgs.com.

Evidence of why the "upgrade" argument is dumbassary at best.

Bottom line: If TCU and WVU are "upgrades" somebody has to be a downgrade when they enter the conference if they are only replacements, rather than additions, like the SEC.

Either TCU and WVU will become mediocre or somebody else will. It's mathematically impossible to get a better overall conference performance by replacing two teams.

Recent on-the-field results mean jack shite. I had no less than 10 longhorns and several WVU inbreeds arguing that conference realignment is about getting better performing teams. But, they all agreed that adding Notre Dame and its massive mediocrity since Lou "The Shower" Holtthssth, would be the best any conference could do, yet not one of them would admit the "why" in that equation.
