A longstanding goal to have more than 1,000 hotel rooms in downtown Baton Rouge should be reached by the third quarter of 2016, when a 147-room Courtyard by Marriott opens at the corner of Third and Florida streets.
Downtown and tourism leaders have said breaking the 1,000 hotel room mark is important, since it’s a number that meeting planners consider to be crucial for scheduling events. Downtown currently has 909 hotel rooms.

That's not very many hotel rooms, it looks like that is just downtown not all of Baton Rouge.

I will google, but I stayed in the new Embassy Suites for graduation this year. It will be my go-to from now on. (Probably would have been anyway, tbh. I like the Hilton brands.)

Yup, it is just downtown. I was going for proximity to campus. Edited OP to include area hotels as well, since most responded with that.

Not sure how I would know the number of hotel rooms in Fayetteville, Arkansas unless it appears in some tourism article or something. I think the bulk of the hotel rooms in the metro are in the county to the north, business travelers and such.

Downtown Athens off the top of my head:
Graduate Athens
Hilton Garden Inn Athens Downtown
Courtyard Marriott
Holiday Inn University Area
There's also a Holiday Inn Express University Area right across the street.
Georgia Gameday Center
Hotel Indigo
There's also a Days Inn
Our University Hotel, called the Georgia Center (Most call it the UGA Hotel) is located on South Campus

Our Mill project will be finished by the first home game. It's going to have a Courtyard by Marriott and a couple of restaurants to start. It's a really cool restoration and development, but I can't find any good pics. Has anyone seen it yet??

Tuscaloosa just opened two new Hilton properties downtown. Northport is planning a couple across the river from downtown. Plus the Birmingham metro is 30-45 minutes away, depending on where you stay there.

The Horse Capital of the World has 7,400 sleeping rooms in 80 hotels. All are within easy commutes to UK. Most are served by public transportation.

I would have guessed far more for Baton Rouge. Really surprised you guys have less then 1,000 rooms. I guess NOLA gets ALL the convention business in South LA.
