Baton Rouge, LA Meeting Planning Overview

Combining the charms of the old South with lively Creole culture, Baton Rouge attracts more than one million visitors each year. Easy access and proximity to New Orleans are certainly two top factors making Baton Rouge an ideal destination. For those traveling by plane, the city is home to Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, which offers non-stop access to major cities and connecting service throughout the world. Additionally, nearby Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans offers even more travel options on nine major carriers and soon-to-be-resumed international flights.

Once in the city, guests are met with over 7,200 hotel rooms. From full-service hotel chains to historic cottages to budget-friendly inns, properties of all price points line the pedestrian-friendly streets of downtown. For quicker travel, a convenient free downtown trolley service can ferry guests among hotels, top attractions, and meeting venues of all kinds.

Tuscaloosa hotels used to be complete shite, but before I moved back there, they upgraded a lot. I used to have to stay around Birmingham for a decent hotel, but its changed a lot. The new Embassy Suites hotel downtown is automatically the best now, but there is a new Hotel Indigo being built right now on Jack Warner, right near the Amphitheater and it will come with a rooftop bar and a full-service restaurant.

Embassy Suites:

Proposed plan for Hotel Indigo:

So that makes three new downtown hotels in Tuscaloosa? Plus what Northport is planning on their riverfront? Already over 5000 rooms available. Solid upgrades for Tuscaloosa.

Lexington is the second biggest city in the SEC behind Nashville. Hotels are a non-issue here. The answer for us is "thousands."

Actually, wrong. Lexington population is 290,263, metro, 489,435. Nashville is 658,602, metro 1,757,912. Knoxville 178,874, metro has 852,715. Baton Rouge 229,553, metro has 820,159.

Lexington is the fourth largest SEC town.

Edit coming I hope, but if not honest mistake I hope. Lexington really is a great town though and to me a perfect size for a school that size.

Currently 909 rooms (edited) downtown, soon to be over 1,000...over 7,200 hotel rooms in area. (1,000 hotel rooms downtown is huge for a city of BR's size...Dallas has 1,508, Houston has 1,497 by comparison)

On your post perhaps.

Knoxville = 183K / metro = 698K

Baton Rouge = 229K / metro = 802K

Columbia = 133K / metro = 800K

Lexington = 310K / metro = 708K

Not the biggest metro area, but by far the biggest city after Nashville. We dont have to reduce ourselves to incorporating other towns to win a dick measuring contest on population.

Is there a reason you excluded Nashville, or is it just a non-issue?

Honestly forgot. And I enjoy Nashville. I was in my cups when I made this thread, so I'll use that as an excuse...

Edited OP.

Not really a hotel. All of the condos are individually owned and it's mostly full, on gameday, with the owners of the condos. That's where we stay. SO's parents own a condo there.

Around 310,797 according to the last census.

Also, it is the second largest in the SEC. LINK

I've never noticed that Graduate Hotel.

Is this trying to brag about Baton Rouge or something? Isn't that your state capital? Obviously they need more hotel space for visitors

I outed myself by joking about College Station rent boys?

And the best comeback you have is another, tired arse, Caitlyn joke?

You must be the rants version of the comedy teacher from Borat. Any chance you can explain to us how to tell a NOT joke?
