Not really a hotel.

Well technically, of course it's not a hotel. But the rooms are rented out on a daily basis...

Like everywhere else in Athens? Actually, Athens is fully booked every game weekend.

Everyone of the OP's threads are brag posts. Baton Rouge a state capital, and he's trying to compare hotel rooms to small SEC towns.

are you talking about rooms in a specific downtown area only? b/c Dallas and Houston have a hell of a lot more hotel rooms than that...

We put the visitors in NOLA. We created bourbon street for the gumps to get drunk and teabag at. Can't have them ruining the vibe in BR.

I think he is just talking about downtown areas only when comparing BR to Dallas and Houston. If I had to bet, I would bet that Dallas and Houston have more than a 1,000 hotel rooms DFW and IAH alone.

I just want to know what he means when he says downtown.

there are like 14 or 15 hotels all within a mile or two of the downtown Dallas Convention Center and I'm willing to bet they have way more rooms than what he listed.

I have no idea what the OP means, but this says there are currently 7,500 rooms within a mile of the convention center.

Apparently that vibe ain't all that.

From nola.com

10 things you hate about Baton Rouge
1. Traffic
2. Bad Urban Planning
3. Chain Restaurants
4. Too Much LSU
5. Katrina Criticism
6. Smelly and Polluted
7. Prevalence of HIV/AIDS

8. Downtown is Dead
9. No Culture
10. Treatment of LGBT Community

And that doesn't even get into the high crime rates of BR.

It's one thing for those outside Louisiana to have this perception that Baton Rouge is a shitty place, but to see it from within state borders is pretty eye opening.

I think Houston is about 5K downtown alone. Then you take into effect that Houston is one of the most spread out cities in the USA. If I were to draw a line around the Greater Houston Area, we're talking a good 175 miles to go around Kemah, SL, Katy, Tomball, Woodlands, Kingwood, Baytown.

I know all about it. Like I said, I stay there every time that we're in Athens. For free.

I meant that you'd be hard pressed to find a room there on gameday even a year in advance because the owners block out those weekends for themselves. But sure, you can rent the rooms out any other time of year if the owners have their condos in the rental program.

There are over 3,400 hotel rooms in just downtown Houston proper. About to be 4,400 when the Marquis opens.

4 seasons 400
Hyatt. 800
Hilton Americas. 1,000
Embassy suites 300
JW downtown 400
Magnolia 250
and then several limited service courtyard by Marriott types of properties

That's just in downtown proper

There's no way that's true most of those high rise hotels have like 350-400 rooms at least I'm pretty sure and there's way more than 3-4 of them in downtown Houston, same goes for Dallas

There we go, I was wondering what the Hilton Americas was

How did you get 6,704 from my link? In the lower right of the home page it clearly lists 7,400. Just wondering what you're looking at.

Roughly 21,000 according to a Dispatch link I found on Google. Not that any of you care, but there could actually be a home/home setup that goes through as planned at some point
