With the CFP, the ceiling is the same as anyone else. I don't think Bert is the coach to get them there, but it's possible.
Petrino had them close to playing for a conference title--they just had the shitty luck of having a great team in the year that Alabama and LSU had the two best teams in the country.

Boxer, our 2012 season and Auburns Cam team proved that Arkys ceiling can be a national title. No reason it can't be.
A good solid well coached team with one diamond in the rough heisman caliber player and anythjng is possible. Auburn went all the way, we were one early season field goal away from Atlanta and everyone knows we wouldn't have lost.

The problem with Petrino was that his teams were never physical. Look at 2011. We struggled with a terrible Ole Miss team because they were physical. Finals score was 29-24 when we should've won by 17+. He was never going to win a championship with that approach.

This season is a good test to see if CBB has a winning system. I'm anxious to see what happens.

Nobody worth a shite will coach at Texas for atleast 5 more years. The last of the support structure has to fall and all those hands in the cookie jar have got to starve out.
The faces of the state are Texas A&M TCU! BAYLOR! and Tech bringing up the rear!! It's a mass fkng exodus! Shine don't win ball games and the smart kids know that place is fckd.
When the granpa's of the organization quit weeping for what was. And the boosters just care about pride again, you will rebuild. Until then, your programs a joke. Until then just hang out on SEC message boards where we rep a conference where shite gets done. Better yet, move to LUBBOCK!!!

Arkansas was #24 in Total Wins (587)
LSU was #17 in Winning Percentage (62.5%)
Arkansas was #27 in Winning Percentage (59.4%)

Arkansas was #26 in Bowl wins (10)
LSU was #9 in Bowl Appearances (31)
Arkansas was #12 in Bowl Appearances (30)
LSU had a National Title to their credit (1958)
Arkansas did not have any National Titles
It's quite clear that LSU was the better overall program... this was STILL the case despite LSU being on the tail end of their worst decade of football in their program's entire history.
Instead of going back to 1999, if you were to compare how the two looked after 1988, it would be even more lopsided in LSU's favor.

EVERYONE who knew football in 1999 knew that LSU was under-performing as a program. I'm not sure you have a clue about just how bad LSU was during the '90s. From 1989-1999, LSU amassed an overall record of just 58-65-1.
Again, this is a program that had won a National Championship (a real one). They had won seven SEC Championships at that point. They had produced a Heisman Trophy winner. And as of 1988, they were 11th nationally in winning percentage for power programs.
Programs like that don't typically experience over a decade of sub .500 football. So when LSU went through that dark period, everyone who knew anything about college football knew that they were under-performing.
And this doesn't even cover the fact that the state of Louisiana is oozing with top high school talent. The state of Louisiana ranks #7 in producing NFL players (behind Florida, California, Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and Alabama). They rank #2 of all states at producing NFL players per capita.
Those are the facts now, and it was the same case in 1999. It was preposterous for anyone to think LSU would NOT bounce back.

I want to be clear I wasn't trying to argue what Arky's ceiling is, I wanted honest answers so I didn't put forth any opinion. I was just trying to clarify the question and the thought process that brought me there.

If the NCAA, Helms Foundation, FWAA, Frank Broyles, Jimmy Johnson, and Barry Switzer acknowledges Arkansas' 1964 Title then you might want too also.. JJ speaks proudly of Arkansas'title in the Miami Hurricanes 30 for 30. Georgia has never had a coach who could carry Broyles or Holtz's jockstrap. Stop being so jealous. I guarantee you that if Arkansas had Georgia's resources in recruiting we would not under-perform like y'all are famous for.
