UNA (1830) is the oldest 4-year public university.
Auburn (1856) became the first 4-year coeducational school in 1892, a full 70 years after Athens State began offering classes.

Your history as a coeducational school STARTS when you become coeducational. DAs on here do not understand that concept. West Point was established in 1802, they didn't become coeducational until 1976. Do you think anyone claims West Point is one of the oldest "coeducational institutions" in the country ?
