So apparently Smart demanded from Auburn...

1. full disclosure of the state of the NCAA’s current look-see at the Auburn program,
2. full control of hiring and firing staffers, and
3. the opportunity to coordinate the Alabama defense in the BCS Championship Game against Notre Dame.

and Auburn refused. Yet Pat Dye wanted Smart?

What Smart wanted from Auburn.

Pat Dye wanted Smart because he thought he could control a first-time HC.

Obviously he was wrong

It allowed Auburn to say that they didn't offer Smart, but the reality is that Smart said no unless certain conditions were met, and Auburn refused to meet them.

In a way, who can blame Auburn? They had to have seen it was all an evil plot by Saban to control the world.

Pretty ingenious ploy cooked up by Saban and Smart. Tell Auburn you won't accept without full NCAA disclosure, Auburn provides said disclosure, Smart then turns them down and uses NCAA info from Auburn against them on the recruiting trail.

Smart asking for full disclosure on the NCAA stuff is a catch 22, but the Petrino call is just bizarre.

So are we.

He would've been far better than Malzahn. Thanks for going for the safest, most predictable, most inside-the-box hire imaginable.

Auburn has changed nothing. Seriously, Malzahn could be worse than Chizik.

Congratulations.

No one knows what Smart will be like as a HC. Just empty claims until he gets off Sabans teet.

But you do know what Malzahn will be like as HC? That one year at Arkansas State sure was impressive huh?

Pat Dye liked Kirby because of all their similarities, both played at Georgia and coached at bama. Like Coach Dye once was, Smart is a tough defensive coordinator with a bright future ahead of him.
And no you don't get any job by asking for 5 weeks off right away so you can try to help your new employers biggest rival win a NC.
Ya think St Nick would be cool with that if the shoe was on the other foot???

I know what he can do offensively and that one year offers a lot more than what Smart can.

Smart can jump up and down and scream that's not what Coach Saban told you to run!

But .....hims not allowed to talk to the press...only Daddy Nick...we don't get to talk.

What a joke!
