You're obviously young and inexperienced to real world commerce and business.

This kind of thing happens every day.

Its called non-disclosure.

I can't blame AU for turning Smart down. The new Auburn head coach will have to hit the ground running on recruiting and not be coaching for a NC game five weeks away.

People should always be given the choice to decide what they are getting into. Nothing worse than making a good faith effort and then realizing that things aren't what you thought they were.

I've no idea if this actually happened, but if it did, he can't be criticized for wanting to see for himself what he was committing to.

but look at it from Auburn's side... Smart was still the DC of Alabama, who you recruit against on an almost daily basis. We're not going to open the books and show him where all the skeletons are buried. We told him nothing was major, but apparently that wasn't enough...

a) they chose the candidate. He didn't call them and ask them to consider him. If they were serious about him, they have to realize he'd want to know.

b) If someone isn't going to trust you enough to divulge sensitive documents and they are considering you for a coach, why would you just take them at their word that they were telling the truth?

I said this before, but if you know someone has a reputation of screwing around, even if there isn't proof they did it, I don't see anything wrong with asking to see STD test results. First hand knowledge is ALWAYS better than second hand information when making life choices.

Bella,

Come on first off we are debating a reporters hearsay piece of what happened. Secondly, Smart has the right to ask for whatever he wants, but so does the school have the right to decline and ask for whatever concessions they want.

I don't blame Smart for asking, but no one should blame AU for declining...IF that is really what took place. It is what it is. An interview and negotiation that resulted in both saying no. Move on, have a nice day and good luck.

I've said about 3 times now I don't know what happened. And I don't blame either side. If you'd read what I'd said, you could have saved a diatribe.

Both sides are going to spin. I've said all along that it was baffling to ask for a rival coach for an interview in the first place. These issues and different versions of the story were bound to come out and could have been predicted 3 weeks ago.

So Smart really told AU that they'd have to let him help their most hated rival win a MNC?

Well I just said diatribe because I'd just said like 3 times that no one knew what was going on.

I was just speaking in general. No one likes to get into messes that they don't have all of the details to, so I'd think this would be something anticipated (if true). This comes from life experience though.

I always think you are are a friendly too, and I couldn't figure out why you were calling me out.

Diatribes always remind me of Shakespeare.
