D.J. was smart enough to not get caught stealing from his teammates, for one thing.

I know that will keep the UGA fans warm this winter.

No it won't. My whole point earlier in the thread was that any pressure Auburn winning put on UGA had nothing to do with Nick Marshall. Him being involved doesn't make it any better or worse.

Kirby has plenty of years left in his coaching career. I think he is making a very wise decision by sticking around with Saban to learn as much as he can about running a successful program. I think he is trying to soak up as much as he can so he can emulate Nick when he does decide to step out on his own. His patience may be rewarded greatly in the future.

Why did you throw out DJ? Are you assuming that because he's black he's not smart enough to run our complicated O.

No one can truly see the future but if Saban had moved on Smart might have stayed regardless. Kirby will likely end up with a good HC position if not at Bama when Saban retires/whatever, somewhere. I would think that Smart has learned more than just defense from Nick and he should be well prepared to apply Saban's system. Whether he has the same level of drive that Saban has remains to be seen.

He's a negadawg. Unless we're winning the NC and completely shutting teams out and scoring 50 a game he won't be happy.

You don't know your arse from your face. Bobo will be very similar to CMR. Why in the hell would you want something you know isn't working when you can have something that you know does? Smart has National Championship experience, Bobo doesn't. Also, CMR is looking awefully tired and worn out these days so I'd bet you're off my many years on your "next decade" prediction.

Uhm, I believe Dooley and Muschamp also had NC experience. Just because they've coached under Saban doesn't mean they'll will be guaranteed to repeat his "process".

Bookmarked. I'll see you in 10 years.

I think this is the case. Smart is trying to learn as much as he can from Saban. It is a good move.

Are you fricking high? The only thing that Marshall and DJ have in common is their race and the ability to run when pressured.

Guess who else had national championship experience when he was hired and coached under one of the greatest CFB coaches of all time?

Mark Richt? You don't think the CFB world has drastically changed since those days?

You will see me before then Im sure. I hope you bookmarked the Christian Lemay prediction. Anyhow, its funny you mentioned Richt being around for another 10 years because I was going to start a thread about his physical condition and appearance as of late. I know he had leg/hip surgery, but the man is looking old too soon. I don't know if its the job, but he seems like something is wearing him thin.

+1

Great post. I think Kirby is taking his time. He seems to be content with his current position. And why not? He's getting paid over a million and learning under one of the greatest coaches in CFB history.

Too many coaches rush out to a HC job and set themselves back a lot.

He's in a stressful job that he's held for over a decade. I don't know too many people who wouldn't start to show signs of stress.

But I still think DC at Alabama is more prestigious than HC at A&M these days.

Well, we never said it was a good idea. Just that we could do it.
