Agreed, lets only use sports who's champion make it on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Or title game is actually watched

Agreed.

For me, it's about the sports I care about (and I realize people will have different opinions about this). I'll never brag about Tennessee's women's basketball program because I don't care. At all.

If I had to choose between the following:

A) great football, good basketball (men's), and horrible at everything else
B) average football and men's basketball, and elite in every other sport

I'd take option A every single time.

Of course, Tennessee may have the worst athletic department in the country, sucks at both football and mens' basketball (although I'm not giving up on Cuonzo), and I hate everything right now.

Florida with Bama a close second. Everyone else tied for distant third or not even relevant to this discussion.

We have 7 national championships the big 3 sports since conference expansion, more than any other SEC school. Suck it.

ETA: LSU is also the only SEC school with double digit conference championships in the big 3 sports.

I would still place UF as the #1 overall program, but what I stated about the NC's is a fact. And Bama is not ahead of LSU as a whole. All they have is football and gymnastics.

What is this "Big 3" I hear about?

It's Big 2.

And if you're going to make it a Big 3, then Women's basketball is in it right? I mean that national title game gets more recognition.

And if you're at Michigan what do you call the Big 3?

Well, if you are not gay, it's football basketball and baseball. Nothing else really matters to me.

The obvious answer to this thread is Arkansas. Like 90 national champs or runner ups since 1990.

Deal with it.

Why didn't the OP simply say the "best Athletic Department"? The answer is still Florida.

Clearly Florida is the most well rounded.

Alabama's 4 titles in the marquis sport (football) as well as being pretty solid in a lot of the others puts them #2 over LSU to me. I'd respect the argument to flip the 2 programs.

UGA, Auburn, and Arkansas are 4-6 as they pick up a lot of titles in 2nd tier sports (track, gymnastics, swimming/diving).

After that, it drops of quick.

UF has won 208 SEC championships, far more than any other SEC school. Florida has won 21 of the last 22 SEC All Sports trophies.

Since 1990, UF has 20 national championships in 9 different sports including an unprecedented run of 2 basketball and 2 football titles between 2006 and 2008.

This really isn't all that close.

Since 1990, UGA has won 27 NCs (32 if you count Indoor Tennis) in 8 different sports.
