Honestly, I was/am envious. Auburn tanked after Gus left and silly Chizik tried to completely revamp the offense that Malzahn had installed. Everyone including your admins saw that Gus was the real magic behind Auburn's 2010 NC. There was little doubt in my mind that Auburn would be back on track after hiring Gus as HC though granted I never imagined you would be back in the NC picture so quickly.

Sensible = refreshing

To you good Sir.

I've always loved Gus. As a football coach, I've admired his offensive genius for years. I was very pleased with the hire, but he's even exceeded my expectations. The D coordinators in the SEC have to dread preparing for Auburn's offense. With more experience from Nick and DQ in the fold, I can't wait for next year.

Where do we sign in if we are still skeptical about long-term Gus.

I will admit I never expected this success in the first season so I was wrong there.

Here is as good a place as any.

Plenty of folks playing the sample size card.

There was also a thread yesterday asking when the spread has had success in multiple seasons that would also be an appropriate place

I like Gus though. A lot more than I liked Chizik.

Other than him beating us of course

Seems like a good guy though.

I wanted him as HC before chizik was hired. Then we got him as an OC and I thought it would be impossible for him to be our HC and wed see him take another team to the title multiple years. I've said it since 08. The guy is nothing but a winner and IMO the best coach in CFB. He's a flat out football genius.

TBD, we'll see if they turn on him like they did during his OC stint and how they did to Chizik.

At first I was skeptical of the hire, but after meeting him at the Southwest Georgia Auburn Tigers Club, I had a sense in the back of my mind that he was going to surprise some folks this year. No guarantees, but I felt like the UGA and aTm games were no gimme by any means. Based on the way he came across at the meeting, he's a terrible public speaker, but he's going to come out guns a blazing to make a statement to the rest of the conference.

We never turned on him during his OC stint. What the hell type of memory do you have?
