and a good bit wanted kirby.
I liked Gus, but he would have been several candidates down my list. Given the choice between Gus and Petrino, I would have taken Petrino. Not the case anymore. As for Kirby, he may turn out to be a great HC, but I was absolutely against hiring him and think it would have been a disaster for AU.

I thought it was only a matter of time before he'd have a good team, so in a way I was wrong.

I don't know that at the time I ever really formulated an opinion, it happened so fast, Kirby's name getting brought up, that it just kind of took me by shock. I remember i wasnt' for it.

Jury is still out. AU flat out got lucky as shite, and even lost to LSU.

Fair.

In at least one way that is true. However, even assuming AU lost the UGA game, what Gus did for AU compared to last year is simply incredible. The offense went from 118th to 11th. That has nothing to do with luck. That is scheme, coaching and execution.

There's no arguing that.

I was skeptical. Especially about the defense.

The Georgia pass was lucky, and if that didn't happen you could make an argument that Auburn was extremely unlucky, what with the autistic replay booth giving Murray a touch that wasn't.

Pretty amazing how often we get lucky... it's almost like we're 'good' or something

I said all along how happy I was that we played y'all early, because you guys would have a great season because of gus. I have witnesses. It was an obvious choice for me.

I'm onboard the Gusbus just like you, but you really just as easily could've been 9-3

And you want AU board access? Melt hard WG

That wasn't a melt, I just don't see the point of the thread when it is 100% obvious that everyone will agree gus exceeded expectations. It'd be like asking "do yall think Herschel Walker was a good RB?"

And, to your first point, I have a proven track record of acting differently on team boards than on here. I know when I'm a guest and can keep things civil. There are a few aubs on our board that would lambast UGA on here but wipe their feet before posting over there.

What about the 14 page thread that says the same thing?

still not sold. If it weren't for 3 lucky plays, you are sitting at 8-4...

considering where they started 8-4 would have been a damn respectable job! I gotta admit I was lukewarm on the hire but after watching him this year he has a fire I had never seen.

I thought he would be great.

I just didn't think it would happen so quickly.
