Percentage wise what do you put the chances of UFs team last year (with Puk on the mound) beating the Twins with Ervin Santana on the mound at full strength?

He's not even talking bout MLB teams. He's talking about A ball minor league squads

Definitely not either of those sports.

Especially baseball. Most of the best players go straight pro from HS.

I think they'd win about 5/100

17 of the first 34 picks were NCAA players, that are much more developed at that stage than their high school counterparts, so no. Not really

And how many are stuck in the minors?

A college team isn't beating a pro team in any sport. Especially not baseball.

Okay. Ignore the link earlier I posted where a division 2 school beat the fricking phillies 6-2

You realize the minors is still professional baseball right? No one jumps straight to the majors, no one. Florida had two first round pitchers on their staff last year, not many A ball squads can say the same

This is not some hypothetical like a football exhibition. Pros scrimmage college teams all the time

Maybe already mentioned. But, Olympic hockey. USA vs CCCP
CCCP was thought to be the best team in the world.

There's too much stupid to even argue any further here. I doubt LSU has a scholarship pitcher on the roster that wasn't drafted out of high school

We're not talking about high school at this point, are we? Guys who get drafted in the 40+ range don't always get re-drafted if they have a less than stellar college career. Not to mention the ones that do end up in the instructional leagues more often than not.

The amount of stupid you've put forth in this thread is astounding. There's not a college program in the country that would go into single A ball and win more than a series the entire season, if they're lucky. On top of that, if it were a five game series, like the OP actually suggested, the college team would flat out run out of bodies to put on the mound by the 4th game. You've gone full retard.

I recall that game and it was full of young players and non roster invitees. It's laughable to even insinuate the actual phillies lost to a college team. Esp a D2 team. Come on.

If you're counting he minors then I agree with you. But I'm pretty sure we both know what the OP meant.

Not an exhibition game vs a bunch of rookies and non roster invitees. A real game with actual players who play for the major league team.

The college team wouldn't win a game out of 100 vs. the worst MLB roster. I'd bet they'd win less than 10% of the games in a single A season. He grossly overestimates college pitching staffs.

Dude has flat lost his mind.

Can you post some more examples? That would certainly help with the argument.

I'm aware. But we aren't talking about a scrimmage are we? OP is talking about an actual game vs the actual players who play for that team.

I'll ask another way: do you think that D2 team would have a chance vs the phillies starting roster? Because that's what OP is asking.

That's not what I was debating with RB10. He believes an A ball minor league squad is much better than an elite college squad.

And here are multiples examples of pro vs college for the arky fan

You might as well not argue way more with these people. It's like talking to a brick wall. They see professional by the name and automatically assume they're better than the other guys.
