Mildly curious.

Is there a sport where the best college team could beat the worst professional team?

For the sake of games like baseball, we'll say a best of 5 series.

Also, if the athletes favor the pros by this much (which I feel they do), then we can give the college teams a bit of a leg up by stating it has to be done using college rules (using aluminum bats, halves instead of quarters in basketball, etc).

I admit to not knowing enough about some sports (like Soccer) to be able to speak intelligently on those.

Also, games like golf can be excluded as well, if you like.

Was gonna say maybe baseball until you said best of 5 series. A college team could maybe steal a game if they have a Strasburg-type pitcher. They'd still have to face a putrid MLB team, like one of those early 2000s Tigers teams.

If you include lower tier leagues, then maybe. A great college team may have a chance against a UFL team from a couple of years ago, for example.

Even with that, they'd only be good players without any chemistr. It would take the shittiest pro team of all time to lose to the best college team.

Baseball, in fact college baseball teams do exhibition games against pro teams and sometimes win. Not to say they are playing all their best players, but in baseball an elite pitcher can dominate and you win 1-0. Football and basketball are so team dependent a pro team wouldn't lose to a college team. Alabama would get wasted by the Cleveland Browns to the tune of something like 49-6. Basketball not much different. UK would get raped by New Orleans.

Yeah anything can happen in baseball, but it's pretty likely a lower tier minor league team would sweep any college team

Kentucky 2012 had 4 first round picks, including the top 2 selections in the draft. They could probably win a series against some of the recent 76ers teams

I should have added to even have a chance. I still think a team like that would lose 9 times out of 10.

Soccer

The best college teams would easily beat the low-level teams in Europe. England, for example, has 8 divisions. Those lower divisions are pretty terrible.

Lol yes. Every now and then there are college teams with an elite level of high end talent. 17 and 18 year olds have made a difference in the NBA. There are NBA teams, like the sixers the last few years, that just aren't good

Anthony Davis
Kidd-Gilchrist
Teague
Jones
Lamb

Plus you haven't even factored in depth yet. NBA teams are filled with the top 1% of CBB players. Anthony Davis is the only one to even have an impact his rookie year

Think about what they've done in the league up to this point. Not much besides AD. Now you have to take them back to the year before their rookie year. It would be a slaughter.
